I find this is more important to continuous success then going all-out for the divison title.
One time I broke this strategy was last season when I tried to get my C, Jerry Grote some late at-bats to win the MVP and he got injured and missed the playoffs... so lesson learned.

Though I give the RiverBats all due credit for winning the division my strategy is to rest my important players in September (avoiding back breaking injuries) and play my young players to get them IC's or improvements at new positions.I find this is more important to continuous success then going all-out for the divison title.
