Baseball preview - impact rookies

Which rookie will have the biggest impact this season?

depends on what u consider impact? if u mean a guy that comes out and helps the team imediately then it is hard to say. but it probably wont be anyone in the nl east since i think matsui was the only guy from that division on there and the mets arent going anywhere. if it is a guy that puts up great numbers but his team sucks then i would say its probably kaz matsui, since he is a seasoned vet from japan. if we are talking "true"rookies, ur guys is as good as mine.

Well this one is about rookies, and the other major leaguers on the cusp of greatness.
So there :P

But my vote went with Mauer, he's racing through their minors over there, he's going to be a great one...

Bobby Crosby - Maybe...
Adam LaRoche - If he starts at 1B, he could have an impact
Ryan Wagner - No minor league experience but he was impressive considering his jump from A to the majors
J.J. Davis - Never heard of him
Khalil Greene - Not an elite hitter but he's fast and a great SS
Jason Lane - Never heard of him
Joe Mauer - Probably too young, could be great though
Kazuo Matsui - Way too overrated
Jason Bay - This kid is good, it's a shame san diego traded him for the same basic player, except older(Giles) not to mention some other prospects
Jeremy Reed - Never heard of him

jj davis is a first baseman for pitsburg. he is supposed to have good power. jason lane is an outfielder for houston who was rated very highly (for a minor leaguer) by wsb2k3. thats all i know about those guys though.

Again with the video games?!
Do you have a game that looks up words for you, or synonyms?

mlb says davis is an OF and he is ranked 101. Lane is ranked 105. neither of them are great, but they could have some impact. Pittsburgh might go with an outfield of Bay Davis, and Redman. that outfield will be great in 1-2 years. pittsburgh will compete by 2006 if they keep Kip Wells

really, he was a first baseman in the video game but that was based on 2002 anyway.

Wow, pittsburgh... competiting...
I just had to say it myself, it feels so strange to have to type those words...
I hope your right, I've always had a soft spot in my heart for the Pirates, and I like their new stadium, they deserve a winner in Pittsburgh for a change, in baseball at least...

mlb.com says Delmon Young will probably have some major league ab by the end of the year. for those of you who didnt know, young was selcted 1st in the 2003 draft, out of high school. everyone is talking about 19 yr old nba players, a 19 yr old mlb player may be going to far. in a few years, expect 15 yr old major leaguers:lol:

Maybe it'll be 12 year olds in the future, on ample steroids of course.
They would be wider than they are taller, and it'll ALL BE MUSCLE!!!!!

Should be fun!

i saw that in the champions league one guy had a player that was 12 years old bcuz the team he was taken from was in the 60s and the year for the champions league was 1950.

I don't know much about them, so I can't say which will be best.

Chad Cordero - RP Expos

don't know if he technically still is a rookie (1st round pick last year brought up to the team in August sometime). He could have an impact with the Expos closer position open.

Im no expos expert but Terrmel Sledge may be a starting OF and might have a better chance of impacting the expos than cordero

Terrmel Sledge was caught using steroids (something like that) and was suspended for rest of season. (I heard something like this)

I knew he was using steroids but I hadnt heard anything about suspension. he went to school near where i live so he was in the papers a lot

banned for international competion, not MLB (but MLB tests for steroids now), but his great minor league numbers last year were with steroids. Against major league pitching with no steroids doesn't help. I don't see him doing much this year.

then he is probably a bust. i mean if u cant get thru the minors without steroids than u have a problem.

reading stuff.

I only heard of 4 of the guys on the list when I first looked at it. I only really know about Expos and Orioles minor leagues.

the Pirates dont expect much from JJ Davis as he is likely to be waived by the end of spring training thanks to the signing of Raul Mondesi.I wonder how Davis made the list over Bay, who is still being called a rookie I believe
