I would like to see if you would be interested in a league like this

- 12 or 15 games per day

- Injury System 3

- No CP Trades

- Realistic Team Nicknames, trying to avoid names such as ?Chicago We Beat You" or New York Losers?

- Player name changes are allowed but must be realistic and/or creatively realistic and not suggestive, i.e. Woody Stump would be acceptable, Candy Corn or Slowhand would not, nicknames allowed but limited

- Skill grades will be displayed as letters (A+, A, A-, etc.)

- Amateur Draftees appear August 15th

- Draft picks can be traded only up to 3 seasons in advance.

- No hidden improvements

- Players will stay on the waiver wire for 13 or 16 sim days, depending on the GPD

- A playoff deadline of Sept 1st, players must be acquired before Sept 1st in order to be post-season eligible

- Only catchers can start at catcher.

- A team must carry 2 major league catchers.

- A player must be at least 75% at catcher as a secondary position to count or play as a catcher.

- Inactive teams will be replaced after 3 weeks of inactivity, without a refund unless they notify the league commish that they will be away

- Hidden Draft system, details below,

Three ways we could try it

You see:

Contact vs. Right = ( B+)

1) Could be a letter range in that letter grade, B-, B, or B+

2) Could be a range in the three closest grades, B, B+ or A-

3) Or done as a certain percentile range -/+ 10 or 15% or what ever we could agree on,

Also, we could show all the letter Grades ?C+? and under as true value if you wish, I know there is a big difference between a 20 year old pitcher with C+ control vs. the same with C- control

This would work better of options 1 or 2 I think, as lowering the percentile range decreases the range of the variable grade.

Of course you have a good idea of how good the guy is but not an exact amount.

Let me explain the rationale,

What I am trying to do is interject a mental aspect of the game,

In real life you know if a guy can throw a 98 MPH fastball, a good pitcher in College could look even better on paper, but for some reason in the big leagues he can execute like he did in college, maybe the pressure, the lights or both. Another guy seems to be able to step it up in the big leagues, ?he was good in college but really rises to the occasion in the pros, maybe he likes the pressure, the lights or both. A good way I thought to simulate this is with hidden improvements or a percentile variance in what you see on the draft chart. If it works as I see it I don?t think a team drafting last would be able to score a big surprise, like a Ty Cobb or a Babe Ruth, but team ?A? that drafted before team ?B? might get a ?Joe not so great? to a teams ?B?, Joe Morgan.

I really think this could be an exciting way of breaking away from the absolute security of a perfect scouting report. Maybe owners would not have to tear their teams apart to get some good picks and mediocre team might actually get better sooner rather than hanging around in Mid-Ville for years, think of it this way, in the big leagues how come all number 1?s don?t go straight to Cooperstown?

I think a 12 - 15 GPD schedule would work so we could get a quick feel for the participants input on how the like this system. I believe we could easily find 16 owners you would love to journey into the unknown.

I know a few owners that have responded positively to the idea and a few that did not.

Would like to hear what you have to say.

Thank you,

Brad

How about this league with the IC system 3 and hidden draft improvements?

If you can mess around with your draft preferences when the draft comes out, then you can still see what everyone's actual numbers are. It takes a little effort, but it's not impossible. This setup would still let people do this, putting newer players (and those with a life) at a disadvantage.
