ahHA! Here we go:March 10, 2004 at 02:37AM View BBCode
either way ruth brakes the record. i believe someone said on another post that he used a 50 oz. bat and if he hadnt he would have hit a ton more homers. now with the new equipment and better training staffs he definetly would have broken bonds record, also ruth played in a shorter season than bonds.March 10, 2004 at 02:38AM View BBCode
I say he smacks Barry around like the wannabe he is!March 10, 2004 at 02:40AM View BBCode
it is wierd to speculate if different players had been born in differnt eras. maybe they would have never gotten to the majors or been intersted in baseball at all. i also sometimes i wonder if the greatest ballplayer of all time was never discovered by a major league team and we are now deprived of a legend. it's amazing how many little choices affect our lives in drastic ways.March 10, 2004 at 02:44AM View BBCode
i say babe wouldn't make it in todays world as he played when in the 20's, he was too out of shape, and no one would consider him. But if they did consider him, yeah he would easily break the record, more talent that steroid bonds hasMarch 10, 2004 at 03:16AM View BBCode
One thing is...Ruth was in pretty good shape for most of his career, and was naturally pretty strong. But if he played today in the same shape he was then, and with the same 50 oz bat, I think he'd hit about .180. Especially having to adjust to sliders and forkballs--things he never saw. However, I think if Ruth was coming into the league today, having worked out his whole life (as ever player now does), and having seen sliders and curveballs and relievers, I suspect he'd be a very good if not great player. But I don't think he could dominate the game the way he did then. As good as Bonds? It's tough to say--it's really hard to compare players of different eras...the game changes so much.March 10, 2004 at 03:42AM View formatted

Piffle, that's a lame debate topic...March 11, 2004 at 03:14PM View BBCode
the only reason i watch racing highlights on Sports Center is to see the awesome crashes.March 11, 2004 at 03:18PM View BBCode
What I don't understand is when people defend racing as being something other than a morbid death-watch.March 11, 2004 at 03:23PM View BBCode
i honestly cannot watch racing without getting extremely bored. people say "oh baseball is so boring it's the worst sport to watch." racing is 10x worse.March 11, 2004 at 03:29PM View BBCode
I don't care about racing at all, but I don't think it's a "death watch". People like to watch the crashes, not to see people get hurt in them, but to see them get out of the car like some sort of superhero. THAT'S the appeal of the auto race crash.March 11, 2004 at 03:47PM View BBCode
Oh, and I'd like to say that JulioF_Jr's "disembodied jheri-curl head floating above a picture of Pittsburgh" is easily the best avatar. Man, check that thing out, it's friggin awesome.Pages: 1 2
