Determined to get the victory, Brooklyn starting pitcher Vin Smith pitched 11 scoreless innings, giving up 6 hits, walking 2 and striking out 11. He managed to pick up the win after Brooklyn scored the lone run of the game in the top of the 12th. Tom Comer worked the bottom of the 12th to preserve Smith's hard-earned win. What is Vin Smith's endurance? I don't think I've ever seen a pitcher go more than 9 before.

He's got an A endurance -- he's ranked 27th overall. I don't think I've ever seen a pitcher go that long either. If it's a close game (and obviously it has to be tied to get to extra innings), the pitcher is usually pinch hit for at some point. I don't know why that didn't happen, but I'm not complaining, since he was brilliant. Maybe it was the shutout logic that doesn't pinch hit for a pitcher if he's got a shutout going.

first an 11 RBI game and now an 11 IP for a starter...weird....where's a horse race? gotta bet on #11.
