Unique League Forming: Variable Development,System 3,Ladder, +More

July 19, 2009 at 05:37PM View BBCode

After hours of chatting over the past 2 days, Indiansforlife, comish of the ABL, and I have decided to team up and create a new league.

The rules which we have put in place, and our commitment to finding experienced, active owners should make this one of the sites' most competitive and enjoyable leagues.

Unique Setup

The league will have 32 teams, each from a different city (thanks to the July 13th update that will allow this). It will be divided up into 2 different leagues, an A league and a B League.

The A League will initially be a merged league, where owners who are unhappy with the their league, but happy with their team, or owners in a league that is folding can maintain their current roster in a new league.

The 16 teams in the B League will start fresh and have an initial draft (snake positional draft).

The top 3 teams in the American League and National League of the B league will move up to the A league each season

The bottom 3 teams in the American and National League of the A league will be dropped to the B League each season

TONS OF NEW FEATURES USED

The league will feature a lot of the sites' new options. We will use variable development(different development tracks), system 3 minor league(all players fully developed), a draft lottery for the bottom 6 teams, and a rule V draft.

The league will have 12 games per day, and most of the other rules will be similar to the ABL(http://www.simdynasty.com/oldforum-viewthread.jsp?tid=147674)

If interested in joining please post below or U2U me or Indiansforlife, letting us know your previous simdynasty experience and why you are interested in joining the league.

New owners will take successful teams from defunct leagues as they would be put at a large disadvantage in the initial draft.

I would be interested in bringing back the Kansas City Silverbacks of the Fernando Valenzuala League if possible. This would be a team destined for the B leagues in 1951.

Little history of the KC Silverbacks, they are a team that went to the playoffs 13 straight seasons 9 WS appearances and 5 championships. Won 91 or more games 15 straight seasons. We are hoping to catch lightning in a bottle once again.

don't teams that already exist have to go to the A league?

Are team names changing between the two leagues, when you go up and down?

Ya, I was taking about the cities not the names....I don't care what city I am in, as long as I am the Hawgs!:spin:

Hi - any unique format needs to be cleared with Admin first. Also, we don't want leagues recruiting publicly for owners until a league has been officially announced.

Thanks,
Tyson

I apologize for any issue, we did submit the application this weekend. I thought this was a good place to organize the effort (almost all of these owners were privately recruited), and show the interest in such a league. I hope for approval soon, so we can continue the effort. I will pause on adding names until we are approved.

Thanks,

Grant

yeahhhh....hmmm....i thought the league had been approved.

yea, that needs to happen before people get all excited and start requesting teams, as some of the terms might not even be possible.

Everything proposed has been done before (ex. ladder in OCL, variable development, system 3)

The only new things are the city names and the rule V. If the rule V does not get approved I do not see any large issue with that. The cities should work by the July 13th update, but I am waiting to hear from admin on that. I did write up at the top of the thread that we were awaiting official approval.

ok. well, at least to me rule 5 is a semi big one.

ive done system 3, variable development, system 3 and variable development. free agency, etc.

i was wanting to do some different stuff and keep some guys i already had.

so hopefully everything works out.

We don't currently have code written to move 3 teams between leagues. So the league would come at a premium cost, or something needs to be adjusted.

Also, looking for 32 teams will be a challenge. I'm not sure if there will be a time in the near future where demand will allow us to do this.

I have about 3-4 applications for new leagues. When we have a window to create a new league, your application will be considered.

I sent you an e-mail with 2 concessions (Dropping the # of teams switching to 2 and removing the rule V draft) to make the creation of the league easier.

i love this idea and would move my folded team Chicago Blacksox from PVL to the A league. By the way the OCL has 64 teams and presently move 4 teams up or down between 3 leagues so I don't see that as a problem. put me down as Toronto Blue Jays in the A league.
