The good news is I've scored 39 runs in 4 games. The bad news is I've given up 37, so I'm only 2-2. A perfect example of my team -- I lost the last game 16-13. There were 13 pitchers used in the game and 39 hits given up. And it only lasted 9 innings. Ouch. If you're curious, here's the box score:

Wow. Sounds like my game 4 (Joe McCarthy league). An 18-6 victory over Philadelphia.
As St. Louis Scapegoats announcer Jack Buck said, "This is a game you hate to see anybody win".
I'm worried though- Philadelphia's got the power to score 6 runs off my pitching staff, which I thought was very solid. I can't score 18 every game. Doh!

My pitching woes continue. Here's the stats on my 5th starter (C+ overall rating with A- velocity, D+ control and A- endurance):
2 games, both starts. In 3 1/3 innings he's given up 17 hits and 13 runs -- all earned. His ERA is a whopping 35.03. He's also walked 2 and struck out 4. The amazing thing is he didn't lose either start because my hitters pound the crap out of the ball and get him off the hook.
I'd consider trading him, but at this point I probably couldn't get more than a rosin bag and a used MC Hammer CD. :(

You think you have pitching woes, let me tell you about pitching woes. How about Gus Conally, my #4 starter? 2 games started, 4 and 2/3 innings pitched, 13 Earned Runs. Good for a 25.05 ERA and a 5+ WHIP (Walks + Hits/Inning Pitched). Then we look at my other starters...
Wegman, 13.3 IP, 8 ER, 5.40 ERA, 1.9 WHIP, 0-1 Record
Malloy, 12.3 IP, 8 ER, 5.83 ERA, 1.9 WHIP, 0-0 Record
Clarke, 15.7 IP, 11 ER, 6.32 ERA, 1.7 WHIP, 1-0 Record
Dedmon, 5.0 IP, 16 ER, 28.80 ERA, 4.0 WHIP, 0-2 Record
Conally, 4.7 IP, 13 ER, 25.05 ERA, 5.2 WHIP, 0-2 Record
For those of you unfamiliar with the WHIP statistic, a good WHIP is below 1.4, and a decent one is below 1.6. Anything above that, and it's a good indication that the pitcher has either a) gotten lucky and has a decent ERA/Record, or b) really sucks as his stats show. As you can tell, my pitchers fall under category b. :(
Yeah, my staff is terrible. I'm sure our team ERA of around 7.9 is tops in the league, but who knows...I need to improve it, but no one wants my position players, as B+ overall as they might be.

Well, my Brews are coming around...we just traded for a solid Starter in Eric Milton, and now our team ERA is down from 7.90 to 7.45. We recently had our first winning streak ever, taking 2 of 3 from the first place Chicago Kingpins and one from some other team. We look to continue our recent success :)
And Bob, good luck in the Beta league...your Bums are tied with my Gangsters for first place, if I remember correctly.

Good luck to you too, bandit. The Bums are on a roll, though -- and will soon take over sole possession of first place. :D Of course, that only applies as long as I don't play the Gangsters. I'm undefeated this year except when you put a whipping on me in the first series. :(
You've got to admit that this game is pretty addicting when you start trash talking and watching the pennant race before the season is a month old.
