What a joke, who in the world would actually think that Mark Prior
is on roids, how stupid.
If he is then he needs a new dealer, cause the roids he's getting aren't doing a damn thing for him...

Someone needs to just ban the things and all of this controversy will be over!

Hopefully that's coming soon, some kind of real policy...

Hmm...I'm not sure on the science here, but I don't think that makes sense. Steroids are designed to enhance strength and muscle mass...and obviously while a pitcher needs to have strong legs I would think pitchers would train more for endurance than muscle mass. But maybe steroids can assist with endurance strength as well. I really don't know. As far as I've always understood, the conventional wisdom is that pitchers don't strength train (at least not for muscle mass), and therefore don't use steroids. Unless McDowell is admitted he was on them.

It was my understanding that pitchers have no need for steriods...
McDowell did retract his statement, saying he was misunderstood...
"You don't understand! I'm stupid!"

This will teach reporters to pay attention to McDowell...
Is Black Jack still in his little rock band? It was so cute the way he flailed
around on his little guitar...
AAAAAWWWWWWW!!!

(please understand, McDowell was a White Sox player, so him coming down a Cubs player is like throwing dynamite in this town )

Your little thing on the White Sox makes perfect sense. I guess he's just too upset that the cubbies are actually better than the Chi Sox.

That's the only reason for it, he's playa-hatin'
Couldn't win in the early 90's when the White Sox actually were good, poor baby.
Don't get on Cubbies just cause you flamed out, freakin' loser!

Me neither, and he acts like he's had an amazing career, please...
He had a couple good seasons then imploded, John Kruk had more staying power than him, sad...

steroids for pitchers

April 03, 2004 at 12:53AM View BBCode

There is a tremendous use for steroids among pitchers. In fact, they say that it's probably even more rampant than players.

Here's why.

What steroids do that allows you to bulk up is speed up recovery time in muscle building. Meaning, you can work out all day long every day without wearing down thus increasing the amount of muscle you can build quickly. Whereas a non-user needs time to allow muscle to heal, a 'roids user can just keep going.

The use for pitchers is, now you can see, obvious. Apparently they take the steroids after starts to speed up their recovery time. Now, in Prior's case, I think a strained achilles makes for pretty weak grounds to accuse someone of being a steroids user before the nation. McDowell oughta be ashamed of himself. Mark Prior's a pretty good guy and a great pitcher and was obviously upset by what really amounts to slander.

I had no idea about the previlence of steroid use among pitchers...
Thanks for the heads up, but I still don't think there was any reason
to accuse Prior just because of the nature of his injury.
It really is becoming like McCartyism!

I think steroids hurt the integrety of baseball! There can be nothing worse than that!

Well, I would put the lack of a salary cap as a bigger reason for baseballs problems than steroids, but the roids are right behind...

Maybe the growing salaries are a cause for steroids. The players get jealous of those who play better and are payed better so they use the roids to fatten their wallets (not that 5 million isn't fat enough).

Its a huge mess, we can all agree with that.
Except for Yankees fans of course, they all wonder why everyone thinks
there is anything wrong...

They have no reason to understand! Their team has won 26 WS and even more AL championships. They could care less how they get there. I just think yankees fans are not the sharpest knives in the drawer when it comes to the obvious.

That is funny by the way, why is McGuire getting a free ride on
all this steroid mess anyways?
Everyone hisses Bonds, but McGwire gets next to no boos, and he WAS on steroids, no doubt about it...
