"Default" Lineup Setting

March 06, 2010 at 09:11PM View BBCode

Is it possible to reconfigure the way that ABE sets the default lineup after an initial or expansion draft, and also enable us to click a button that would restore our lineups to that default rating?

What I would like is something that will automatically re-order Lineup Vs. R and Lineup Vs. L to place the highest overall ranked position player into the lineup slot as follows:

1- C
2- 1B
3 - 2B
4 - 3B
5 - SS
6 - LF
7 - CF
8 - RF

If ABE would just set up everyone's default lineup according to position, instead of the current "top down" system that just fills 1 through 8 from the depth chart listing (catchers first, then 1B, then 2B, until running out of players), I think it would help a lot with absentee owners and would also help if you were unsure which players to start at which position, because it would give you a nice "default" from which to start.

Guys with 100% or just red-letter ability at the position? (I know, semantics, but it's relevant, I'd say red-letter ability because that gives you the best 8 players out there)

As the "default" I would prefer that ABE just look at primary position and overall grade. If we wanted it to be more refined, ABE could look at anyone 75% or greater at the position and RHP vs. LHP split ratings. But I'm just looking for an improved default roster setting, not for ABE to generate "the best lineup" just a lineup with a player from each position.

great idea.

I'd also like a 3 lineup card rather than replacement prefs.

Lets say I have a 1B/LF with good health, and a 1B with poor health, and a LF on the bench who isn't a 1B, but the best hitter off my bench.

When I can micromanage, I put the LF/1B at 1B, sit the 1B, and play the bench guy at LF. When ABE does it, I get the replacment 1B off the bench who's probably the 4th best hitter on the bench, while the LF is available for PHing duties.

the 3 lineup card would enable me to set the first 3 lineups I'd make if I were micromanaging, placing the players in the exact positions I'd do them, and in the order of my choice, rather than the two options of putting him in the same slot or batting him 8th.

Ham, you don't like having first basemen playing 2B and 3B by default?

And, Shep, that would be great. Just because a player's on your bench, it doesn't make him a bad bat. You may have a hole at catcher offensively.

Bringing this idea back up.

Maybe, for a bit more realism, the default lineup could be something along the lines of CF, 2B, RF, 1B, 3B, LF, SS, C.

I think ABE should look at hitting attributes to determine the order. There was another thread about this somewhere, where I suggested an algorithm to determine who to put in the order. It was GM-configurable, but there would be a default.

Which could also be used for when backups play.
