Draft the 1st round and 2nd -5th round later

I don't know if it's possible, or how easy it would be to put in, but is there anyway to have the 2nd the 5th rounds of the draft 8 (or so) hours after the 1st round?

For instance in my last draft I only had cp's for 1 17 yr old, I had picks 16 and 19. I had to set my preferences for best available, I didn't know who was going to be there. I ended up getting 2 17 yr old's with both picks, had I known who I was going to get at pick 16, I could have used pick 19 on a older player. My 2nd round pick was now a waste. I would have shuffled my draft board based on my 1st round selection.

In cp leagues it's tough to maximize 2nd round picks sometimes. Allowing owners to reorder their board after round 1 helps everybody. This would provide more flexibility, more trades. Sometimes I want 1 pitcher and 1 hitter (in rounds 1 and 2), and using the position preferences doesn't help.

I don't see a downside to this idea, your thoughts?

don't you do the same thing if you trade your extra 17 year old for an older player to the team that doesn't have enough 17 year olds?

(oh no. gasp..................a trade.)

A trade shouldn't have to be made to get what you want out of your draft picks. I like the idea of separating the rounds by an hour, although that only helps the people who are able to get on during that hour.

I think a good idea would be the ability to create if/then rules to follow during the draft. You could have a bunch of drop down options to choose to ignore certain players based on previous choices. So in the above example you could have set the following rule:

If the player selected with the [16th pick] is [under 18] do not select a player who is [under 18] with the [19th pick].

The words in brackets would be options that could be selected. You could choose other ages or choose positions or different picks to fit the criteria you want.

Well I suggested 8 hours, but the point is to separate the rounds to update the draft board. My example was only 1 of a few. There was a draft where I wanted to drafted a hitter and a pitcher in the 1st 2 rounds, and not knowing which player I got in the 1st round caused me to reach on a pitcher in round 2.

I think most of us would draft different and more effectively if we could reorder the draft after round 1. It would also allow more trades. I don't see any negatives to this idea.

Haha, I apologize, apparently I couldn't remember what I just read. I think 8 hours would be good in dynasty leagues where there is an extra off day, but it could make things tight in speed leagues.

Anyways, I agree with your thought that there would be a better way to do this.

I really like the idea as well because there are a variety of scenarios where it would be useful. But I am not sure how much of a reality it could be based on many other posts that talk about the difficulties of coding the site and such.
