In Stealing Preferences, add Vs. Non-Qualified Catcher

On the Stealing settings, there really needs to be an extra box/choice against non-qualified catchers.

Teams that use non-catchers in that critical position aren't penalized nearly enough. The way it is now, the opposing team merely looks at the arm rating, which doesn't tell the picture at all. A team should and would run at will against one of these jokers but do not. Here's an example--

This 2nd baseman only had 86 sb attempts against him in 75 games. Give me a break. Oh, and that brings up something I didn't think about until I wrote that--the games played for them needs to be adjusted as well. It allowed him to catch 75 games (!!!) because, apparently, that's how many games a B+ health 2nd baseman can play. I don't know how many a B+ catcher can play, but I know it's not anywhere near that.

Come on. Make these chumps pay!

i have always understood that the prefs look at the adjusted arm rating- that is, the 2B's arm at catcher after the oop penalty. i may be mistaken in that though.

they do. the non catchers give up tons and tons of steals. if you have your runners set to run ultra agressively on the less than A arms, its a track meet.

I assumed it considered this, but I don't think it does. The above guy was not run on any more than the average catcher. I've seen this on two other players who caught the majority of their team's games and they were not stolen on any more frequently either.

I suppose it's possible that other teams haven't ramped up their attempts against bad catchers. I can't remember what the default is, but it probably isn't weighted enough to penalize these scam artists.

If it already considers the non-catcher factor, I guess what there should be is an option to override the normal equation against them. Currently, I have mine jacked up to around 40% catcher's arm, but that still doesn't get the job done. I'd send any A- or better guy against the guy above almost every time.

you are correct actually. the successful percentage is so high it makes me think of it like a track meet. the attempts are about the same (in other words, for the attempt, it looks at whatever the arm rating is that is shown). its probably a tanking thing, its so easy to get a non catcher in there (all you have to do is pinch hit out for them, if your league rules demand they must start) you don't want to reward it (when the folks want the team to lose) by giving all these extra attempts, almost all of which are going to be sucessful (at least until the thing gets its catcher percentage up a lot).
