As long as players like Charlie Costo (435 career saves/33 per yr avg/#7 all time) is in the hall, and Kevin Ross (585/39/#3) gets passed over yr after yr...I'll abstain...

I think he will make an interesting case when he retires. A lot of wins (currently 18th all-time with 212), a lot of rings, but only 1 Cy Young and never led the league in anything in any season except one year when he led in strikeouts.

The Kevin Ross debate. I didn't put him in the Hall when I was running the Hall because his save percentage was way too low and he didn't have enough hardware to offset that (only 1 Fireman award and no rings. Led league in saves once in 15 yr career). At a save percentage of 83.8, it's too far off the more elite 86+ range. If we look at the total number. 585 is alot. (George Wanninger has 596 saves with a 79.8 save percentage and 4.96 ERA, should he get in based on the total alone?) I can see that side of the fence that says that, he reached the magic number of 500 saves. I understand and respect that argument. But Ross only 4 seasons out of 15 with an ERA sub 3.00. 3 seasons with 11+ blown saves. The All time Save leader Bill Kim never had a 10+ blown save season in his career. I originally concluded, respectfully of course, that he wasn't dominate, he wasn't elite, IMO. And I felt the Hall should be a place for the most dominate players at their positions. Just my 2 cents.
