Can't certain names (or name combinations) be purged or prohibited?

He has a very high Hands grade, but his Pursuit is surprisingly low.

The name generator does not take things like this into account. There is a censor to prevent you from using dirty words on names you create but it looks at each name individually, and doesn't censor valid names, only curse words.

Chris, is it at all possible for you to just delete "Sandusky" from the name generator?

Sure, anything is possible... in an early version of the game I had deleted the names Vick (this was before he returned to the NFL, when everything was still fresh) and Simpson. But there have been multiple Vicks and multiple Simpsons to play the game, so I put them back in.
There were three players named Sandusky in the database that I pulled the names from; all played in the '50s.
I could put in a specific block to prevent "Sandusky" from ever being paired with "Jerry", but where do we stop? What other names should be banned from existing? Should I prevent owners from changing players to that name? Technically it's not difficult, although preventing owners from changing to that name would require changes to the censor which looks at first and last names individually right now.

Vick and Simpson are both a fair bit more common and normal than "Sandusky." I don't see any reason why you could just take that one last name out of the database and let it go at that.
