Was thinking that draft classes should be created as many seasons out draft pick trades are allowed. This would give a better sense of value to future draft picks in trades and generally reflect what happens in "real" baseball where future draft classes are generally known. Thank you.August 08, 2013 at 07:36PM View BBCode
this one of several things the baseball side would do well to steal from football.August 08, 2013 at 09:06PM View BBCode

it's been suggested before, i think the main argument against it is that it will exacerbate tanking. Might be cool though, to see teams getting in supreme tank position years in advance, or just dumping everybody before the right year, like the 76ers are doing in the NBA this coming season. I've changed my general opinions to be in favor of anything that gets people more active.August 08, 2013 at 10:49PM View BBCode
It doesn't seem to have that effect in football. Granted, one player makes much less of an impact there.August 10, 2013 at 01:47AM View BBCode
The football draft and baseball draft are so, so different though. (Even just on the sim site.) As DD points out, one player can be far more influential on the baseball side. The disparity in talent and the obvious consensus for who to take at #1 on those certain years that there is a stud makes tanking a far more viable solution on the baseball side.August 10, 2013 at 05:29AM View BBCode
I don't tank, so I wouldn't even look at any draft classes except for the one that I was about to draft in. So I don't really care...unless doing this would take a bunch of time...then I would advise against it so that that time could be used on other things instead.August 10, 2013 at 10:35PM View BBCode
i was thinking that if I knew in advance that an A+ pitcher was coming in a future draft, it might tempt me to take a ride on the stank tank just once. I think for that season I'd rather get the #1 pick than win the championship. I've won some championships, but never even seen an A+ in any of my leagues, so I'd trade the ring for the fun. But of course there would be so many other guys tanking it up it'd probably be harder than winning the title.August 11, 2013 at 04:43AM View BBCode

I'm neutral on exposing draft classes multiple seasons in advance. I think that it would be fun to have the same (or similar) draft pool from season to season, with some players improving and others not changing, and with some dropping out and others being added. (So, the OS 18 guys who don't get drafted in year 1 will improve and come back at OS 19.) But the only way to really make that work would be to drastically alter the drafting component of leagues and possibly the improvement engine as well.

Well said jchoopz! I agree with much of what you said.September 04, 2013 at 09:02PM View BBCode
there is nobody to do that kind of enhancement anymore. try this. count up the members that are actually playing and do the artihmetic on how much you think this thing brings in. tyson has a real job to support his family, this can't be it. it is what it is. they aren't going to put resources into expanding the thing. it isn't worth it.September 04, 2013 at 09:26PM View formatted
