There are four HOF nominees from the retiring class of 1993.

As a reminder, it takes two-thirds of all owners (11) or three-fourths of those who vote to gain induction. All owners are welcome and encouraged to vote.

You guys convinced me for Jackson, I was on the fence but I have decided to say yes to him, but I can't vote for Moss, I agree he was a superior fielder, but he just did not hit enough for me...

Ferguson - No. But a very nice career with 2000+ hits, 300+ HRs and 200+ SBs. Plus a WS championship and Gold Gloves at shortstop.
Jackson - No, But very close. 29th all-time in wins with 233. 12th all-time in strikeouts. Also a WS ring.
Morrell - Yes. 10th in wins, 9th in Ks, ring. Easy decision (for me at least).
Moss - Yes. Played SS for two WS champs, won 6 Gold Gloves (would have possibly had 12 if the GG in SimD existed earlier), had 2600+ hits (more than Ozzie Smith) and 300+ SB. Oh yeah...also a homer pick.
I personally think that great defensive catchers and shortstops should be given extra consideration. I'm pretty sure that people who have played baseball at most levels would agree. I also think people expect too much of pitchers. Sure...300 wins gets you into the hall of fame. But Sandy Koufax is a Hall of Famer (and should be) who only won 165 games...but the body of his work was incredible.

I find Jackson an easier vote than Morrell. Pretty even careers really...I put less weight in wins - I'll take 273 innings of 3.13 ERA all day every day(Jackson was 16-14 that year....14-11 252 inn of 3.38 era...He had several years of great production in those middle years but for whatever reason had 16-14/15-15 type win/loss records and still managed 233 wins)....Jackson averaged more strikeouts per season than Morrell. He also averaged less walks per season. Obviously Morrell is a 1st ballot HoF - I'm not bringing him down. Rather calling attention to another great pitcher. I have no vested interest in getting either guy into the HoF outside of being on the losing end of games they pitched many many times. Pretty good back to back drafts there in '73-'74.
I voted for Moss for pretty much the reasons causey noted above (+177 at SS).

Yes - Morrell. He wasn't a slam dunk for me. WHIP and ERA are very average, but he stuck around long enough to rack up the Win and K totals. His W-L differential is nice. Although shy of being great/elite, he had a very long stretch of being very good and that sometimes is enough (e.g. Burt Blyleven).

It's unlikely that we'll get 16 owners to vote, but it would be great if it did happen. Regardless, I'm interested in what the remaining owners have to say.
I'd also like to put our current process to a vote, but will do that in a separate thread after this HOF vote is over.

Very close, but he was remarkably consistent over a 17-year career.
Ferguson is the first player I managed to come up for consideration, and though he was a great defender at SS, he just doesn't measure up.
