Dick Connor, 2B
Dick has earned 1 more year in the majors. He had a great OS 35/71, 16 in offensive categories. Dick was never expected to be anything except a stop gap until the minor leaguers developed. I am happy with his progress. Last season he hit .257 w/ 12 Hrs, 60 RBI and 10 Triples. We expect him to lead off 2043 and hit .280.
Off season Grade: B+
Al Walsh, CF
Al is the type of player when you are rebuilding that you throw out their and give him 2 full seasons to develop. So far I have to say I am not surprised at his progress which has been average at best. OS 28/72, 17 in hitting. He will get one more season in the majors full time to see if he can progress a little more to earn a starting spot in 2044, very doubtful though. He hit .239 last season with 11 Hrs, 84 RBI, 34 SB. Actually not bad but you need to hit over .265 to make my team. Lets see what happens this off season.
Off season Grade: B
Harry Ostrowski, RF
The Big "O" managed to get 37/74 improvements, 17 Offensive improvements. I am not sure if that was enough. He will start in RF for NY this season but we will see in 2044. NY expects him to start in RF next season. 8/51/.272 last season, we expect .285 this season batting 2nd in the order.
Off season Grade: B+
John Colpaert, OF
2042 ROY made some strides in the off season. 25/60 only 8 offensive but he is already a good hitter. 17/54/.292 last season, expecting over .300 hitter this season. I am going to say a little disappointing but not a bust.
Off season Grade: C-
Jimmy Lyden, SS
Jimmy is a crowd favorite. 23/66 is not great in the off season but he improved in the right areas. 16 offensive categories, last season he had 21 in offensive categories. That is 37 in 2 season's. His average went from .218 in 2041 to .274 in 2042 and if he can get it up to about .295 we will be happy in 2043. He will bat 3rd this season......
Off season Grade: B
All of the hitter were 24 OS..........
too be continued........

Travis Reardon [82/65/97](OS24 last season) converted 1/49 chances. Very disappointed with that

Hard to tell what curve Reardon is on. Could be a minor-league gem/major-league bust curve, or could be an early bloomer curve. Hard to tell since his rating is so high.

My guy Billy Cahill went 0 for 50 in his OS24 offseason!

Tiny, the CvR and PvR are averaged when the likelihood of converting an improvement chance is determined--and because Borden's PvR is so high, it makes it tougher for him to convert ICs in CvR as well. Borden might be lucky to reach 50 in CvR (but he will definitely reach 100 in PvR !).

Aaron Fowler, SP All-Star
The controversial Starting All Star Fowler went 6/56, not bad, last year with 7 improvements ERA went from 3.80 to 3.29, hopefully this year he will be under 3.00.
Off season Grade: B
Mike Wallace, SP
Mike is improving at a decent rate. 7/53 is not bad. 4.10 ERA last season 12-20 record with a bad team is not bad. He will be the #2 Starter in 2043. We expect the ERA to dip into the 3's
Off season Grade: B+
Paul Sheehan, Closer
Continues to be a disappointment 3/35 is horrible. 24/238 since he was drafted in 2038 as a #1 overall pick. What a LOSER!!!!!! Anyway he will close games out in NY for now. He would get an F but I heard someone went 0/50, that is an F.
Off season Grade: D-
Ollie Jimenez, RP/SP
Ollie!!!!, Ollie!!!! Screams the crowd every time he takes the mound. They love him in NY. 6/48 in improvements but 4 were in endurance. The guy can throw 100+ MPH but has control issues. He will come out of the pen in 2043 and could end up as the closer if Sheehan can't handle it.
Off season Grade: C-
That's it for my guys 24 and under......

Yeah I would have to say that my off season was pretty horrible. Every vet got hammered (too many too mention just check it out) and there were some big disappointments with young players like 26 yr old SP Hendersen who was 2/53, Fred Ferens 2/51 at 27 years old and 29 year old Hack Pichardo who came over in a trade to shore up the bullpen went a big fat 0/45.
There is no joy in Mudville.

my 2044 OS wasn't bad. My starting catcher had some stong conversions, although he did not make the list for the GG award despite committing 0 errors and had a 34% CS rate.
my Ace SP went 0-53, very disappointing.
all the other guys weren't terrible

Hitters:

Harry Ostrowski, RF
The Big "O" managed to get 28/72 improvements, 16 Offensive improvements. That is 33 Offensive improves in 2 seasons. He has proven he can be a factor on this team and will start in RF in 2044. He owns a Riffle as an arm in RF but we expect his average to go up from .244 last season to .280 or above. 19 HR/82 RBI was nice last season and will bat 6th.
Off season Grade: A-
John Colpaert, OF
2042 ROY made NO strides in the off season 15/61 only 6 offensive. Talk about BUST, He went from 17/54/.292 in 1942 to 12/60/.256, I was expecting over .300. He has come in over weight this spring, management is NOT happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Off season Grade: D-
Jimmy Lyden, SS
Jimmy is still a crowd favorite, He is hard working first one to the field, last one to leave. 25/71 is not great but again improved in the correct categories, 16 offensive categories again, that's 53 offensive categories since 2041. His average did not get up to the .295 we expected but I am going to chuck it up as a bad season, he did have 37 doubles in 2043. He will bad lead-off in 2044....
Off season Grade: B+
Hal Richmond, LF
The 23 year old Richmond surprised everyone by winning the ROY award over Tom Bean. Hal was batting .208 most of the season, was sent to the minors 3 times but went on a role after he came back in June from the minors. 15/70/.247 is not bad for a 23 yr old rookie. 32/71 were his OS stats, 17 offensive is pretty good. We expect more in 2044. He will start in LF but there has been rumors that he is being shopped around.
Off season Grade: B+
Pitchers:
Aaron Fowler, SP All-Star
The All Star Fowler went 2/55, Which is not good at all but what else can I ask for....His ERA dipped under 3. to 2.82 with 19 wins. He is the Ace I always dreamed of.
Off season Grade: D, but A+ player.....
Mike Wallace, SP
Mike also an Ace on this team, 6/54 is good at the age of 25. His ERA dipped into the low 3's in 1943 putting up 15 wins. This up coming season we expect Mike to win 20 and ERA under 3. We are very excited to see if he can put up numbers like Fowler
Off season Grade: B+
Paul Sheehan, Closer
Finally we see life from Paul 8/53 is ok. He made the All-Star team with 22 saves. Era finally is respectable under 4. He will close games in spring training and see if he gets the job.
Off season Grade: B-
Ollie Jimenez, RP/SP
Ollie!!!!, Ollie!!!! had a interesting season. He showed signs of brilliance but sometime can not get out of his own way. They still love here in NY, 6/43 in improvements but 4 were in endurance. Ollie will get the 4th Stater role and see what happens....
Off season Grade: C
Overall I have to say I give the OS a B to B+ for me. We expect a lot out of 2044, at minimum a playoff appearance........;)

Big Battle in AL this year. Boston was in the WS, LAA won 94 games, OAK was in the playoffs, Seattle won 95 games, Baltimore looks good, Tampa just got 2 Ace's, and the New and Improved NYA. It will be interesting to say the least.

the trade for Tomasic and Dodd sure will help you, and I'm probably still a year or two away from serious contention (unfortunately)

Rumors have it that Dan Lyons & Bob Anderson are upset that they are not getting the run support they were getting in Montreal. They have both demanded upgrades in the offense or they want out of Tampa......

I guess you guys know better than me......Now there is no weak points in the line-up or on the bench. I am very proud of the team I have been able to put together in 2 Sim season's. I still have some work to do in the rotation and bullpen but so far so good.
