we gotta have some decent ones coming up in the near future, don't we?

hahah its like roulette...losing 3 in a row on red doesnt mean the 4th is more likely to hit red.

i actually got some decent prospects in this last draft though, wasnt disappointed at all.

Those guys are young, but I'm wary of especially slow hitters, particularly those who have higher contact than power (like Tim Jones). Those guys need to be rabbits to beat out basehits, I think.

Henry Miller should be a star, though, and he wasn't too shabby as an author either!

Agreed, I like speed in my hitters as well. Thought most of those guys were, for the most part anyway, the best available in terms of upside at the times of selection. I figure at least one or two will pan out into a plus player.

its funny how Cerv has potentially great range and slow speed, compared to Becker who has great speed and no range.

That is funny. I can think of plenty of OFs in the majors who were speedy but poor defenders (e.g. Lonnie "Skates" Smith), but I'm having a harder time thinking of Cerv's real-life analog. I guess Cerv's skills scream "first baseman," which would make him like Andres Galarraga.

seeing that he now is a numbers guy Im following your advice and training him as a 1st base guy.

You may not have to, once he gets to the majors, a 1b conversion is the quickest

Im basically in the same boat with Lowry too. He didnt improve much in Range/Arm and Im basically forced to throw him at 1b until he is at least passable in the MIF if that ever happens.

This year's draft class is incredibly deep!

Montreal has 3 first-rounders and FIVE second-rounders in this draft. Matthew drafts so well that I am sure he will get a boatload of future all-stars...

Really good draft class but most of these guys will be in the minors for 4-6 years before they see any day light.

How about the Canucks!! I count FIVE and possibly SIX major-league starters that Matthew got in ONE draft. Incredible!

Indeed. But now he has 27 players in his minors, and I count maybe five guys in his entire system who are waivable. So I guess he trades a few rafts of prospects for the best superstars in the league?

Tiny25,

I had Dink Militello ranked 45th on my chart and George Underhill ranked 76th. Not good......Actually Gene Styles was ranked 32nd on my board and you landed him with the 44th pick.

Sorry bud...this was a deep draft, I feel like I landed 3 potential Major League players. Are they going to be great maybe not but they will play in the majors at a decent level.

Given how the draft went compared to my board, I probably should've kept the picks that I used to get Weaver haha. Maybe it's time to expedite this rebuild

He had a very good draft.

I traded the 3rd..I could have landed Werner, who was 3rd on my board, but I liked the depth enough to gamble on next year's draft..especially with the fair amount of young depth I have at pitching. I knew I wouldn't get Rogovin or Neibauer (who went 1 and 2) so I figured I'd pick up Moran and a 1st next year.

I ended up getting pretty much what I wanted for the draft anyway...Fisher (2b with A health and good hitting), Sackinsky (17 year old B/D+ pitcher), Bruton (18 year old 1b with good hitting, and Blackaby (18 year old C+ OF with poor power but pretty good everything else).

Sackinsky, Bruton and Blackaby were 2nd and 3rd rounders, whom I was very pleased with picking up.

I could be looking at 2 top 7 picks this year too between myself and LAN so I have no complaints whatsoever.

I thought I did ok too. I landed my #16 ranked, 21st ranked and 25th ranked players. Sounds like a late 1st, 2 early seconds. Not bad at all considering I had the 25th, 27th and 33rd pick. The draft was extremely deep but as we all know 50% of players do not pan out unless they are top 5 picks, except for the 1943 draft, I do not think 1 player out of that whole draft is a star today. Barney Williams is ok at best......

I had your 3 guys 41st, 23rd, and 25th in the orde you got them.
The low contol lefty I have no hope for, and I only rank the top 20 so who knows where I really would have ranked them

Joe Stricker was ranked 29th on my board. Montreal just released him, I took him, Jose Eden was ranked 30th, he was also released by Montreal who is just loaded with talent. Both guys are huge projects but have a fighting chance.....
