Montreal Trade Offers
March 18, 2014 at 05:31PM View BBCode
The Montreal owner (bahstonwedsawks) is renowned for sending many trade offers. In fact, he was removed from a league in the past for repeatedly sending trade offers to people that requested that he not send them any more offers offers.
Over the last 2 weeks, he has sent out around 250 trade offers. All the other Dynasty league owners combined sent out about 1250 trade offers during that same time (735 owners). So he is responsible for one out of every 6 trade offers sent in all Dynasty leagues.
The problem is that it is time consuming to evaluate and respond to trade offers. Some may even say it is a chore. The net result is that often owners are warn down by this tactic and accept deals they shouldn't, or just leave the league and sometimes the site as a result.
If you'd like to receive trade offers from this owner, please reply below. You'll need to explicitly say it is okay for him to send you offers. Otherwise, you should expect not to get any trade offers from him.
Let me know if you have any questions or comments.
Thanks,
Tyson

At times it makes me laugh, the offers, but I am fine with it. It really isn't so hard to just hit "decline". :) I think it just wrankles player that he is so successful.

totally agree. though i don't remember MON being in 3rd place this late into the season (28 games). If this was to hold true, batten down the hatches cause the trade offers are gonna come flying, ha

Since the beginning of the 2013 season (beginning of this thread) there have been 18 trades involving Montreal with 6 owners (KC, NYA, SEA, FLA, MIL, ATL - the 2 ATL deals initiated by Michael1 and I accepted both on the spot with no negotiations since I can't counter-offer).
Of the 7 owners allowing trades, only 2 (Boston, Washington) haven't struck a deal with Montreal since the beginning of last season. And Washington just approved trade offers yesterday. So, it's really 5 of 6 teams have gotten a deal they liked by negotiating with Montreal. It takes a little back-and-forth but odds are extremely high that you will end up getting what you want.
Montreal's entire roster (big league and minors) is open to anyone for offers. Of course, I can't negotiate with the owners that haven't explicitly given permission per this thread (I can only accept/decline outright) so deals with those owners are much less likely than deals with the 7 owners mentioned above. With that said, even if you haven't given me permission to counter-offer, feel free to send offers and I'll just accept/decline them.

I should add that I have 5 first-round picks in the next 2 drafts which are available as well as all the players in my entire organization.

From my point of view, being the one responsible for getting the Admins involved, it has nothing at all to do with Bahston's success. If he can swindle people out of high draft picks and prospects to further his team's success... more power to him. It's not as if I haven't had similar levels of success after rebuilding bad teams into contenders. Undoubtedly, he's created one of the best teams in SD history... too bad he has never taken the time to rebuild a team. That would be so much more impressive than scavenging on the work of a previous owner as he's done in both leagues he's participated in. Still, where he's taken Montreal beyond where Billmollasses had the team is quite impressive.
My personal issue was receiving the same exact trade offers several times in the course of mere hours... declining each one with an explanation as to why... only to have my trade desk blow up once again within a few minutes. I told Bahston at least a dozen times that I was not interested in helping him out in any fashion once my team began to rise to the level of competing with his. Yet, I received 42 more trade offers within the next 5 days. He asked for the same 4 players over 50 times each over the course of 3 seasons... despite me telling him there was no possible way he would get them. The two guys he did eventually get from me were both open to being traded under the right circumstances, and I forced him to pay a higher value than what he was getting in return. One of those deals, I know he regrets as he tried to reverse it just a few weeks later.
Once Bahston has it in his head that he wants a particular player that you have... he does not stop with the harassment until he gets him. Then, he turns around and tries to reverse the very trade that netted him that player at the end of the season!
Yes, it is harassment... especially when you've been asked to stop on several occasions. This is why I asked the Admins to intervene, because he wouldn't adhere to requests made by myself.
Otherwise, I take no issues with him. In fact, we've had several engaging and entertaining conversations in the time he's been in the league. He seems like a good guy overall who just doesn't know when to stop in certain regards.

Just for clarity for readers of this thread, the trade attempted to be "reversed" via subsequent trades with DeepThreat, not through contacting Admin or anything like that. I did offer additional pieces (marginal players) to try to convince DeepThreat to "reverse" the trades, to no avail.

Montreal has always been polite and professional in his trade offers with me.
Just remember one thing: every trade he proposes has the advantage stacked some way in his favor. Albeit it might be age of the players or quality vs. quantity in his favor. If you have a deficit in one area of your game, you may actually make out in your dealings with him even though he had the overall advantage in the trade. His team has no apparent needs. Every trade for him
is advantageous overall. However, you may improve dramatically in one facet of the game in your trade.

Trade offers are fine with me. If I don't like it, I'll decline. Simple as that.
Bring them on!
