Pitcher outhitting opponents

October 02, 2014 at 12:34PM View BBCode

Midway thru the '52 season, Charlie Morogiello has a higher batting average than opponents do against him. Along with an incredible 1.03 ERA and 0.72 WHIP, opponents are hitting just .161 on him. On the other side of the plate and mound, Charlie is hitting .167 for the season. Of course there's no way he'll make it for the full year that way, but I don't think I've ever seen that by a pitcher with that many innings pitched and at bats. I must say, though, that I am hoping he'll drop his ERA below 1.00 in his next start. Go Charlie!

Unfortunately for Charlie, his next game is against the Brooklyn Intensity. And we don't have any intention of letting his ERA slip under 1.00 or have him continue his admittedly awesome trend of outhitting his opposition. :P

Should be a heck of a matchup with him going up against our ace Ed Castle, the 1950 Cy Young winner!

Ironically, it was my pitcher that went 2/3 against Charlie, but we couldn't pull out the victory. At least we kept his ERA above 1.00, but not by much!

What a horrible outing by Charlie. His ERA shot up to 1.06!

The batting average aspect is probably long gone now, but the last scoreless start dropped his era to 0.96! He's definitely going for the most dominate season any of my pitchers have ever had. I almost feel like cheating by pulling him. For some reason, though, i just can't do that.

Alas, the Intensity got to Charlie in his last outing, scoring three in six frames, destroying any hopes of a sub-1.00 ERA for the season. ABE has simply gotten nasty to the Nattis over the last week, silencing their once potent bats. Thru 55 games they had averaged 4.96 runs a game; during this six game losing streak they have managed a miserly 1.33. Yikes!
