Waiver Priority
March 18, 2015 at 08:35PM View BBCode
I am working on a simple addition to the Roster page: the ability to set a waiver priority for players.
Essentially, all players will have a waiver priority from 0 to 9. Higher waiver priorities get picked first when a player needs to be auto-waived. So if you have a single player ranked 3, two players ranked 1, and the rest of your players ranked 0, and two players need to be auto-waived, the player ranked 3 and the worst of the players ranked 1 would get waived.; If four players needed to get auto-waived, the player ranked 3, both players ranked 1, and the worst remaining player would get auto-waived. When a player is waived or traded, his priority is reset to 0.
Thoughts?

That should work and its simple to use.
I know this is off topic, but I have two simple things that I think most would agree with.
1.A very high % of punts that bounce between the 1-11 yard end up in the end zone. I think when the ball hits between the 7 and 11 yard lines it is usually downed before it goes into the end zone and Im guessing that % is probably around 70%. We are way under that number and I think it should be tweaked so that less punts go in, especially on medium distance (45 or less yard) punts.
2. The very long pass (50+ yards) has gone away again at the end of the game. You never see a "Hail Mary" or even anything close as the game is winding down. I know we´ve worked on this before and it seems to work after you make the adjustment and then fade away as time by. If the trailing team is down by 8 or less within 60 yards of goal and there are 1 or 2 plays left in the game, that call has to be available, but I havent seen one in ages.

This is up in Beta. If you must waive a player because you are over cap or over the maximum roster size, it will use the waiver priority list first.
NOTE: If your team is below the minimum number of players but adding a player will take your team above the salary cap, and a player must be waived to make cap room, the waiver priority does not apply. I'm looking to see if I can use it in that rare situation.

I would think that it would be more intuitive for there to be 8 slots (one fir each spot on the inactive list), numbered 1-8. Number 1 gets waived first, number 8 last.

That was how I was originally planning to set it up; I was at war with myself over "lower is higher". Ultimately, higher is higher is easy to code and explain, so that's what we got, for now. Since under some circumstances players from the active list can get waived, you can set the priority on anyone.
The way I expect people to actually use it is just to set a 1 on anyone they don't care about and let the system sort it out from there.

Maybe it is counter-intuitive for 9's to be waived first and 1's to be waived last. That means I'll have to default everyone to 10 and override the display so 10's display as blank. I'll change this.

I ran a few extra quarters today to test this; it seems to be working perfectly.

I love this feature. I think it's the perfect solution.
