will Ichiro set the hits record?

The record is 257 hits in a season, set by some guy in 1920. Ichiro needs roughly 1.6 hits per game to beat it. Will he do it?

The man was George Sisler....and no, I don't think Ichiro will quite do it. I give him 250 hits this year. Funny though that we nearly simultaneously opened threads on Ichiro.

also, ichiro should play about 159 games, and so far this season he has averaged 1.53 hits per game. it might get tougher to get hits as they will pitch around him unless boone continues his recent upswing, and even if he does with all the rookies the m's are calling up they still might pitch around him

he could do it, he has seemed to overcome his 2nd half slumping as i think he is better conditioned. Ichiro is one of 2 players this millenium ot have a 50 hit month(pujous is the other) and ichiro has 2 this season, and 1 in another year. i wouldn't put anything past ichiro, he could probably get a hit blind folded and 1 leggedalso, ichiro should play about 159 games, and so far this season he has averaged 1.53 hits per game. it might get tougher to get hits as they will pitch around him unless boone continues his recent upswing, and even if he does with all the rookies the m's are calling up they still might pitch around him
