Individual achievements thread

May 17, 2015 at 05:16PM View BBCode

Do we have an individual achievement thread in the message board anywhere? I was looking for someplace to put all the interesting or quirky things that happen instead of having them spread all out.

We have a special feats thread stickied. It hasn't had a post in it for over a year and half though.

Not many rbi's for his three homer's, but a great day for Coffman none the less. 4-5 with 3 hr's, 4 rbi's and a double to boot.

Gene Buddie just set the record for most wins in a season for a pitcher with 27.

I think 10 of those wins were against us.

He must have been mad

On the same day Boston picked up OF Larry Lazerus off of waivers from Colorado he stepped right into the starting lineup and went 4-5 with 2 HR and 6 RBI.

The solid veteran must think he still has something to prove in this league!

That's just wrong to pick up a guy off of waivers and he immediately gets 6 rbi.

Congrats to Luther Durham of the Fantastic Copper Kings for throwing a no-hitter against our beloved Twins on [url=http://simdynasty.com/boxscore.jsp?boxscoreid=30238576&cityid=29]06/30/2034[/url]!

On a totally unrelated note and something deserving of our individual un-achievements thread if we had one, Twins #3 starter (now #4) failed to record an out while giving up 7 earned runs against the Mighty Ice Kings on [url=http://simdynasty.com/boxscore.jsp?boxscoreid=30246233&cityid=29]07/10/2034[/url]!

Not a great couple weeks for the good guys for sure!

Just noticed a huge milestone in RRL history. On 6/29/40 Gene Buddie passed Hank Kaiser and became only the 2nd pitcher in league history to win 300 games. Buddie is only 6 wins away from tying the league record.

What an emergency start

August 13, 2017 at 12:29AM View BBCode

Back on [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/boxscore.jsp?boxscoreid=35580971&cityid=2]June 17[/url] of this season, Boston closer Don Kurtz made an emergency start. It was the first start of his 9+ year career. Kurtz not only tossed a complete game shutout, but he lost his no-hit bid with 2 outs in the ninth before settling for a 1 hitter.

Okay, so he was never a catcher but Steve Chavez has seamlessly made position changes throughout his career. Chavez came up as a 1B and primarily played the position for the first 7 years of his career making 6 all-star teams and winning a gold glove.

With big time power hitting prospect Walter Breazeale in the wings, Chavez learned to play CF, where he spent the next 3 seasons, making an all-star team and winning another gold glove.

With the team in need of IF's, Chavez again made a position change midway through 2052. He has now primarily played 2B for the past 3 seasons, making 2 more all-star teams and winning yet another gold glove.

9 all-star appearances, 3 gold gloves (at 3 different positions), amassing over 2300 hits and 200 HR. All while never missing more than 4 games in any one season. He may never be a HOFer, but he has been invaluable to Boston over the last 12+ seasons.
