PS, don't try to analyze this or my intentions too much. It's just there for a good laugh.

Ok I'll type it out. Please excuse typos if there is any, I'm typing quickly as it plays.

Q. Mr. President, you've been a governor and a president so you have unique experience looking at it from two directions. What do you think tribal sovereignty means in the 21st century and how do we resolve conflict between tribes and the federal and state governments?

A. Yeah, ah Tribal Sovereignty means that it's sovereign. Your a, Your a, you've been given sovereignty and you're viewed as a sovereign entity. *long pause, some of the crowd laughs* And, therefore the relationship between the federal government and tribes is one between sovereign entities.

There you go. It was hard for me to type out the atmosphere though so I recommend watching the video if you can. Part of the humour is the way he said it.

This has become pretty common. Every time someone gets him off the talking points, he fumbles like that. Does it say something profound about him? Maybe not. Is it frightening that a man who runs the free world says such things? Definately.

Clearly he didn't know the meaning of sovereign or sovereignty. On one hand you can't hold it against him because most Americans don't know the meaning of sovereignty. On the other hand he is the leader of the free world and his administration is fighting for sovereignty, so he should know what he is trying to acheive.

Sovereignty: Supremacy of authority or rule as exercised by a sovereign or sovereign state

Sovereign: 1. One that exercises supreme, permanent authority, especially in a nation or other governmental unit

2. A nation that governs territory outside its borders.

I grew up assuming that the President should be one of the best among us, it's disheartening to find the opposite is true...

i know this was not the intention of the post, but give the guy a freakin' break. no matter who's president or who's what, some one is always going to bitch. no one's perfect and if your going to stand there and make fun of someone, nut up and throw your imperfections on the table so i can rip on you. a hot girl came up to me at the bar the other day and asked me my name, i had already had a pitcher of beer at the time and bush STILL did better than i did.

ps: not directed at anyone, i'm just sick of how this has become a national craze

:o Well I'm glad you got that off your chest. Still, I don't want this post to go this way, so try to keep it simple. You're right though, everybody makes mistakes. It's just easier to spot flaws in those who are famous. I just found it funny because he's the leader of our country yet there are thousands smarter than him. I didn't say they'd do a better job, they're just more intelligent.

Besides, how can you not laugh at someone who screwed up as much as he did with that answer? Hell, I even laugh at myself when I say stupid things(which is a lot). Sometimes you need to just kick back and laugh at everything life throws at you, it's easier that way.

Sorry, but I think it does matter. Having a speech impediemnt doesn't mean you're stupid, but one of the primary jobs of President is to instill confidence in the people. And talking in circles about issues like that just scares me. And it would be one thing if he did it every now and then. He does it ALL THE TIME, whenever he's unprepared for a question. It just doesn't inspire confidence--I'm sorry. He's the worst spoken President in history.

what about the dude that only served one day, David Rice Atchison? did he even speak?

The current president is sadly lacking, the proof is in his absolute certainty about so many issues. The only people who are so resolute about so many things are the ones who don't know any better....

For the record, Atchison was never really the President, and he slept through most of the Sunday on which he was supposedly the official President. Not to get off topic or anything.

When asked what he did on this day, he commented "I went to bed. There had been two or three busy nights finishing up the work of the Senate, and I slept most of that Sunday."

He's now my favorite president. Not really, but I find that bit funny
