ROY = Rookie of the Year, LY = Last Year, TY = This Year, (r) = (Ranked in the WBL)
And another WBL season arrives - year 2030
This is an extremely competitive league where many new owners have gotten frustrated and departed from the occasional WBL drama. Therefore, salute to all the current owners.

What can be said? Goliath does it one more time. The Montreal Hosers are the new WBL champions sweeping the Chicago Sabres 4-0. Congratulations to the new champs. Montreal has been so dominant, this is the team's 7th WBL title in the past 10 seasons The last season Montreal missed the playoffs was in the year 1999 ... The rest of the National League has yet to figure out the equation to keep this team out of the post-season. Much of the squad returns all of the same players as the St. Louis Underdogs seems to be the only team capable of knocking off the champs. The rest of the NL is either too young or doesn't have the talent to compete.

Season 2029 - carried a funky ring to it. One owner who has now departed, gave up his team for dead for at least two seasons. Two other owners who left felt the agony of Goliath seeing no hope in ever winning a title. Now there is a current owner, who has a top-flight SP, one of the few with an A overall ratings, sitting in the minors disengaged and still has seasons left, who has literally not been heard from ... When owners are non-participants in the league, this keeps the WBL in a flux as players such as the one mentioned is being wasted away.
It's funny how stats don't tell the entire story. Boston led the AL in HRs LY, yet their W/L record of 77-85 couldn't touch Chicago's 107 victories. Milwaukee stole 298 bases as a team, but could only muster 632 RS as a team, well below Goliath. Baltimore led the AL in pitching with a team 3.27 ERA, in WHIP and in defense with a .990% and still only had two pitchers on the All-Star team and only one Gold Glove Winner.
St. Louis' Kassidy Yates almost broke the single-season RS record of 164 falling short at 161.
Boston's Gene Langston had a late surge to take the AL HR title with 43.
RHP Gut Dukat won his 5th NL Cy Young Award earning his 11th overall All-Star selection. Dukat now ranks #1 All-time in the WBL for ERA at 2.57, #6 in Career WHIP (1.11) and #23 in wins (254). His avatar buddy Maihar'du is #15 in the WBL all-time with 429 saves. Yates is #33 in HRs with 426 and is now the active leader in the WBL. Yates is so good, the players is #6 all-time in SLG% (.560), #6 in OPS% (.934) and #8 in career BA% (.313).
But keep this in mind, the Montreal Hosers are the WBL Champions and remain strong with All Stars Jot Smith, John Baker, Joe Gill and Hector Cameron and Bill Land. Goliath has bragging rights ...Gill didn't do too bad with 35 HRs, 154 RBIs (tied for 10th in a single season) and 124 RS. Cameron swipe 62.

With so many owners either not-participating or knew they were leaving, the WBL is looking for the new owners to take heed in searching for a game plan to lay down Goliath. For Montreal comes in at 1-3 favorites to win the 2030 WBL title.

A review of the 2029 playoffs ...
Chicago Sabres vs. Baltimore-(w)
Baltimore's second post-season trip since 2016 didn't pan out as LY, losing GM#1 with 2029 AL Cy Young Winner Gravity Speakers serving up a 3-run HR to 2B Cliff Airsmith as the OG's lose 5-2. All-Star Jim krug threw a CG. While the OG's upset Chi-twon in GM#2 6-3, and won 12-1 GM#3, a major setback in GM#4 as the Sabres won a close one 5-4. All-Star RP Gary Lockhart shut down OF Joel Perez with the winning runs on base, and would own Baltimore winning GM#5 (on the road) 2-0 on another Krug shutout. Baltimore, in GM#6 ran off a 10-3 lead only for Chi-town to tied it with a 7 run 8th inning. The comeback fell short as reserve OF James Hurricane's RBI double in the 9th and All-Star closer Tim "Sandman" Sanderson tied the series at 3-3. GM#7 was hard fought by the OG's but Chicago held the juice winning the final contest. Chicago wins 4-3
St. Louis Underdogs vs. Montreal Hosers-(w)
The St. Louis Underdogs came in as slight favorites winning GM#1 4-3. Yates went 4-5 with 3 RS scoring the winning run. Then, the Underdogs looked vulnerable losing three straight games: 10-6 in GM#2. 8-7 in GM#3 (four runs in two innings comeback rally fell short) and 7-1 in GM#4. The 2029 Champions weren't going to roll over. In GM#5, super-avatar Gul Dukat mastered Montreal with a solid performance winning 7-5 while Yates' RBI single in the 8th tied the GM#6 battle and OF Charlie Thompson's walk-off RBI single forced a Game 7 showdown. In the finale, St. Louis jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but could not hold off the Hosers who won GM#7 (7-2). Montreal wins 4-3

Chicago Sabres vs. Montreal Hosers
Take out the brooms for the sweeping action. In GM#1, RP Chris Gamble gives up a walk-off pinch hit single to J.J. Burkett in the 10th inning as Montreal won 3-2. GM#2, the Hosers pitching was too much with a 2-0 shutout victory. GM#3 was more of the same, very little from Chicago and Montreal proving their worth with a 4-1 win. Joe Gill hit a 3-run HR in the 4th inning in that one. The Hosers closed the deal with a 8-0 victory crowned as the new WBL Champions. An outstanding pitching performance by the entire team who gave up only 3 runs in 4 games. Wow! Montreal wins the WBL title 4-0
THIS MUST BE SAID:
For 30 consecutive seasons in the Wally Berger League, the Montreal franchise has made the playoffs every season - winning the WBL title an astonishing 18 times during that span. Can any owner finally break the Montreal code to WIN?
AL 2028 ROY Candidates:
BOS - Jeff Aderholt, Dennis Henrich
MINN - Samirum Hill, Billy Gene
OAK - Luke Aaron
SEA - Freddie Jurisich
NL 2028 ROY Candidates:
FLA - Bert Guardado
MON - Beau Calzini, Marcus Lewk
SD - Charlie Scott
For the upcoming 2030 season ...
The favorites have to be Goliath returning a core their players. The champs have very few holes. Maybe the rest of the WBL should cast voodoo spells to dethrone them (repeat fr 2028 and 2029)...
Question Marks in:
Will there be a back-to-back-to-back trade drama free season?
The AL Champs have the same team, with playoff experience and a veteran presence. Can they return to the post-season once again? (repeat fr 2029) Chicago surprised the AL with their team hitting. Can their staff keep pace? Baltimore is now older and experience could push them to a match-up with Goliath. However, the team's hitting has taken a dive and the pen has holes. Can the OG's hold leads for a great rotation? Detroit continues to have major questions in the bullpen. The Diesel put up runs in bunches. Can the squad make the post-season on offense alone? Oakland has taken major steps to be recognized inside the AL. Regularly making moves, will this be the season for a playoff birth? Boston's has power galore, with suspect bullpen and defense. Can HRs and a power staff carry a team to the playoffs? Washington traded away one of their top pitchers pre-season to get younger. The Offense is superb, however, the pitching possess many question marls. Minnesota finally has an owner who has much work to do and many seasons to catch the AL pack ...
Question Marks in:
The National League will face Goliath one more season, I mean many more seasons. Maybe the injury bug will hit Goliath where their depth will be challenged, or maybe Sim D will lose all its data and have to start all fresh all over again (repeat fr 2029). There are a couple teams Goliath may have to be concern. One is Atlanta whose squad has a wonderful core of youthful talent. Perhaps not this season, but 2031 could be Atlanta's ticket to the post-season. Milwaukee is the other team who can match aces with Goliath, but lacks the hit squad of Goliath. They need more offense to make it to the dance. San Diego took a step back, but with a couple of moves early season, this squad is capable of pulling off miracles. Brooklyn's non-activity is an eye-sore. Florida's new owner inherits a competitive squad with young talent. Lastly, the Metal Gods may get a top five draft pick. Never heard of a team taking vacations during the seasons. LA Metal God are 12-1 to win 70 games for the season, 8-1 to win 60 games, and +210 to win 42 games.
2028 Playoff Predictions
The Champs have two studs in their minors...
AL - Chicago and Oakland(wc) - winner Chicago
NL - St. Louis and Montreal (wc) - winner Montreal
Montreal wins the WBL crown.

As a reminder to all owners, it is vital to participate in the voting process if there are (and it's a high chance) any trade protest occur. The system in place can work if all get involved and vote. No owner should try to scam another which is why most protest come about - for whatever reason.
After saying that ....
Welcome to the next WBL episode ... ready, set ... Lights, camera and some - WBL ACTION!!
