(WBL) - Mid-Season Report 2031

April 12, 2017 at 06:16AM View BBCode

HTP = Highly Top Prospect, TP = Top Prospect

ROY = Rookie of the Year, LY = Last Year, TY = This Year, (r) = (Ranked in the WBL), Teams with * = Playoff Contenders

Coming into the halfway mark, the Washington Hendersons sit atop of the American League for the first time in many seasons. With an offense that has it's opponents serving up golfer balls, it should be no surprise now that the Hendersons are for real. The team hasn't made the playoffs since 2019 which happens to be the last time an AL squad won the WBL series (New York-a now the Bobcats). No different than the past two seasons, the race is tight between several contenders. Baltimore picked up 2B Romy Turcorin from the Oakland Athletics and was moved to the OF. Trading away an All-Star 3B Calvin Williams after picking up 3B Nicko McBrain from the LA Metal Gods, the Original Gangstas sit just one game behind the Hendersons.

... And yes, inside the National League, Goliath still reigns but David has now gotten some stones to throw.

The Atlanta Peaches are just two games out of the wildcard and ten games back of first place Montreal. Definitely in reach to make the post-season and challenge Goliath to represent the NL breaking the curse of season's past. The WBL champs - St. Louis Underdogs - seem vulnerable TY and not as deep. Milwaukee and San Diego are long shots, but at least they're still in the race. That being said, the Montreal team may keep Goliath going and going and going. If ATL makes the playoffs, Goliath will have fallen.

Well, the Wally Berger League finally saw a trade protest ... which wasn't overturned. Trades are down ... HRs and BA in the AL are also down.

What is very surprising is that the top two AL teams carry issues that may catch up to them come October '31. First off, the Hendersons have the #1 O in all of the WBL, but their pitching serves up 4.15/gm (r-9). Teams can put the ball in play too. Washington ranks last (r-16) in striking batters putting an intense amount of pressure on the hitters to produce. On the other side, the OG's have the pitching staff to go far (r-2), but unlike 2030, the O has not perform as LY (r-13). Plus, reliable St. Louis staff is not doing it as before (r-6) and are usually in the top two. Just as with Washington, the offense carries the team. Except, the champ's defense (r-11) is sub-par compared to Washington (r-2).

And the hill continues to be muddy ...

Montreal ranks 1st in the WBL in both offense and pitching and will be a tough out. Going into the 2nd half, the Hosers will be the favorite to win it all for 2031.

If Atlanta gets to the postseason he has a chance. ABE likes to spring upsets on us especially if the team hasn't made the playoffs in years.
