Over the last several seasons I have been willing to underachieve a bit because, for some reason, I just get attached to players.
Duane Hiller at the time of this writing is 48 years old and 7 hits away from 4000. He was a first overall pick in the draft and already holds league records for games played and walks and has plenty of strong stats and piles of awards to gild his record.
Please join me in celebrating the long, long career of a collection of baseball playing electrons as he approaches this milestone - whos pitcher will give up his 4000th hit?

Looks like 4000 was a double odd Wayne Cunnigham of the Orioles in game 134 - thanks for the kind words all! Now just to see how long it is until he is forced into retirement. Wonder what the all time hit record is?
