In a Jackie Robinson league game today, the two teams combined for a meagre 4 hits.
Brooklyn's Frank Foiles got the win, pitching 8 shutout innings while allowing only 1 single and 2 walks. Frank Grabowski picked up the save with a scoreless 9th, allowing no hits and walking one.
Chicago's Irv Appleton was the hard luck loser, giving up 3 hits and 2 walks over 8 innings. Unfortunately, 2 of the hits were solo home runs -- accounting for the only runs of the game. Blackie Fisher pitched a scoreless 9th, allowing no hits and one walk.
