For anyone who missed it, the Chargers were at the 3 yard line, less than a minute left, 4th down, down by 7. Brees found himself in trouble and threw it, and no one caght it. However, a Jets player was called for facemasking, making it first down, 16 seconds left. Brees threw it to Gates for the TD. On to overtimeJanuary 09, 2005 at 05:12AM View BBCode

Actually, Jets linebacker Eric Barton got called for roughing the passer when he inexplicably punched Brees in the head after he chucked the ball up in the air while falling backwards with two guys in his face. The Jets should have won the game in regulation. In OT the Chargers stalled and punted. The Jets first possesion lead to a quick three and out. Then, San Diego drove down into Jets' territory and set up rookie kicker Nate Kaeding with a 39 yard field goal which he pushed wide right. The Jets took the ball down to the San Diego 9 yard line where Doug Brien hit the game winning field goal.

Oh definitely. The Jets just won the right to be slaugthered by either New England or Pittsburgh. But I'll be rooting for them nonetheless.January 09, 2005 at 11:40AM View BBCode
The Charger players deserve an apology from their coaching staff. Quite possibly the WORST playoff coaching I've ever seen.January 09, 2005 at 12:41PM View BBCode
Yes but in the end the Jets prevail on to Pittsburgh or New England....and now we do not have to string up Harris Barton for that totally stupid penaltyJanuary 09, 2005 at 12:47PM View BBCode
That poor rookie kicker has about 7 months to just sit there and think about what he has done.January 09, 2005 at 12:47PM View BBCode
Also it should be noted that Marty S. has chocked and lost yet another playoff game. He may be the worst postseason coach in historyJanuary 09, 2005 at 04:33PM View formatted
