Extended Spring Training

Anyone know who actually plays games in Extended Spring Training? Its May 17th and Juan Gonzalez is still playing in Extended Spring Training for the Indians. Who's he playing against? I can't imagine that they have enough players there to field a team - who are the other guys he is playing with?

Yeah - I know. Just got me thinking this morning - i mean who are these other players in extended spring training? Do you think he's playing against local high school teams?

Except I thought the Rookie league was a short-season league for guys drafted in June?

It looks like its kind of a place for the really young kids to play until the Rookie leagues start in June.

And also from looking at the Angels roster especially, it looks like they really take a look at the newly drafted and hispanic players to see what they actually have before sending them off to a minor league team.
