Second player suspended in two days

The Office of the Commissioner of Baseball today announced that Ryan Franklin of the Seattle Mariners has been suspended 10 days, effective today, for violation of Major League Baseball's Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.

I'm pretty sure this will prevent him from entering the HOF

I remember when he first came up, and M's announcer Rick Rizzs always made a point to introduce Franklin as the "tall right-hander from Spiro, Oklahoma," as if the town has some quaint resonance out in the Midwest that's just lost on me here in latte land.

I guess they don't do things differently in Spiro, though.

Franklin says he's "baffled" by the test results. I'm not holding my breath for the day a busted player has the balls to say "yeah, I did it. You caught me."
