Ted Williams passed away earlier today after a series of strokes and long illness.

He may not have been the most agreeable personality (a stubborn cuss would be the term Ted would have preferred), but you couldn't argue his hitting skills.

Williams was the best hitter I've ever seen (and I only saw him at the end of his career, when I was a kid.) Superb judgement of the strike zone, graceful power, and the sweetest swing ever.

Another chapter in baseball history is closed. With the passing of Williams coming so soon after the deaths of Jack Buck and Darryl Kile, makes you hope the sport itself isn't next ...

sadly we missed his 2 year anniversary of his death....a moment of silence for one of the best, if not the best hitter to ever grace a baseball diamond
