Giambi has bounced back after such a rough start

I as well as many other people thought Giambi was gonna be terrible at the beginning of the year but I am amazed at how well he has done. Last year he batted .208 and hit only 12 homers but suddenly this year he has completely turned it around. Jason was still doing terrible at the end of May this year batting 231 with 4 homers and 13 RBIs. In june he hit 310 but only 1 homer 7 RBIs. In July he went crazy with 14 homers (most in a month since Mickey Mantle in 1961) 355 average 24 RBIs.

It was the most home runs in a month by a Yankee since Mantle. Sosa hit 20 in June 1998.

Giambi has suddenly become the middle of the order force that he was in Oakland and his first two years with the Yankees. In the absence of Barry Bonds, he leads both leagues in On Base Percentage with .444.

Welcome to the boards, yankeekid. Clean up your grammar a little and maybe skier and I will have a nice ally. :)

*sigh* As if the boards weren't strange enough without my little brother.

Whoops, yeah I knew that it was first Yankee since Mantle, that was an accident, heh.

I'd still like to see Giambi try and go the other way alittle bit more. If he could establish himself as a threat to hit the ball to the left side (and they don't have to be opposite field homers or anything) he could get a lot of cheap hits and probably force teams to take off or reconfigure that shift. Then the right side would also be open and he could really take advantage of that.

Overall he's still alittle streaky. Going into the last weekend in August before he had a couple multi homer games he was only batting .198 for the month. But the entire season, even when he was struggling early on, he was drawing walks and his OBP was respectable. And now, as Smocko pointed out, he's leading both leagues in that stat and the most important thing is to get men on base. The power is nice too. 25-30 homers per year is nothing to sneeze at.

Giambi has great power. As you said 25-30 homers is nothing to sneeze at, but also if you forget about last year where he had his eye injury thing, I think he had 40+ homers his first two years with the Yanks. He hit another one last night and I am just really impressed right now with how he has turned it around this year. By the way has anyone besides me considered that he might be back on steroids?
