Since I know Folifan loves these NBA stories so much:

Why even bother playing the '05-06 season when we could just crown the Spurs champs now and save everyone a lot of time and effort.
Oh, and in other news Robert "Tractor" Traylor failed his physical with the Nets and will remain a free agent. I'm not liking this theme of free agent power fowards failing their physicals with the Nets.

I love Fin but the guy is injury prone and very streaky.
If Duncan stays healthy than no doubt they have got to be the heavy favorites, BUT if he goes down for an extended amount of time than its up for grabs.

Yeah, adding two over-the-hill veterans doesn't guarantee them anything. Just ask the 2003-2004 Lakers.

The good thing about it is that if either one of them starts sucking or gets hurt, it really doesn't matter all that much. It doesn't help that much, but its nice to have them. If they need to, they can put together a whole bunch of weird looking combinations now too. But more than anything, having those two may scare Parker into playing well. Now they just have to trade Nesterovich and his 7 million a year contract for whatever they can get. I guess they could throw Udrih in too.

The difference between the Spurs and the 03-04 Lakers is that Finley and Van Exel will be bench/role players and not key pieces of the triangle. That and the Spurs are a younger team overall than the Lakers were. Finley and Van Exel will give the Spurs a consistent perimeter three point shooting threat that they haven't had. Finley has shot 41% over the last two or three years from behind the arc and 37% for his career. Van Exel shot 39% last year and almost 36% for his career.
Yaz, I agree that Fin is alittle fragile at this point in his career but coming off the bench may solve some of his durability problems. Yes, he's no longer an allstar caliber player, but he's still a very good player and is going to be a serious sixth man of the year candidate and could be a very effective weapon. If Duncan goes down for an extended period of time then that could be trouble for the Spurs, but if he's healthy they are going to be very very tough.
