Bonds to be Activated, Maybe Tonight

I hope the first pitcher to face him beans him in the head.

These steroid cheaters should be banned for life, and banned from the Hall of Fame.

I hope there is someone right next to him with an empty cup 30 seconds after he is activated. He probably is clean but I say why not harrass him a bit.

Derek Jeter is the most overrated player in all of baseball

Um..... no. He is not overrated. His stats might not be as good as you would think of someone who is so well known, but you don't find a guy that dives into the stands for a foul ball every day. He is a good leadoff hitter with a pretty high average and he has made some unbelievable plays at shortstop. You also can't find someone who does as well as he does in October too often either. If you find someone, tell me.

Did you just figure that out? We also play Boston 6 times before the end of the season.

The Red Sox completely embarassed the Yanks last year. It was... brilliant

Mike Young is better than Jeter in almost every category. If the Rangers ever find the pitching im sure he would be just as big of a stud in the playoffs as he is in the regular season. I'll get back to you when the Rangers find some pitching ( maybe never :( )

I was starting to think that Jeter was no longer overrated because people had started to see his considerable defensive shortcomings and that he hasn't been an elite hitter for the past several years. Guess I was wrong.

Yankee players in general tend to be overrated, as do players for the Red Sox, Dodgers, and Cubs (the clubs that get tons more media coverage than anyone else).

Having said that, Derek Jeter is a fine, fine player and not particularly overrated compared to any other player on the media-favored teams.

Jeter is 13th (Tejada is 6th, Young is 9th). This takes into account position played, but not defense. That makes him the 4th best SS in baseball (3rd of those that actually play SS).

I'd say that that means Young is underrated more than Jeter overrated.

Michael Young is a younger player who should eventually get more attention, if he keeps up his performance. Jeter was a great story from the moment he entered the league (seriously, Kalamazoo Michigan is a crucial part of the American Dream) and may have the best marketing image of anyone in the game.

It is nearly impossible to suggest that (excepting A-Rod) Tejada is not the best shortstop in the game.

While I don't think Jeter is a bad player and not even close, I think what a lot of Red Sox fans (including myself) think is that he's good and fairly clutch but would be the equivelant of an Edgar Renteria type if he played anywhere other than New York and was less "pretty". Both Jeter and Renteria are decent all around players (Jeter a better bat, Renteria a better glove) and both are clutch. Both should be borderline all stars every year. That being said, Renteria isn't treated like the second coming of christ the way Jeter is and that's what ticks people off. Also, you could easily argue that Jeter is the most overpaid player in the league. Marketable? Yes. Top 10 baseball player? No.

I know people will disagree with me and they're the same people that will argue the Don Mattingly is a hall of famer. That's one of my favorite things to bring up in front of hard core Yankee fans. They get very very upset. :D

Jeter is much better than Renteria, both now and for the career.

Mattingly's not a Hall of Famer. Neither is Jim Rice.

Jeter has just as good a glove as Renteria or better. Although Jeter may boot a few easier balls, he will make spectacular plays when it counts. Just to let you know, jeter has 13 errors and Renteria has 24. Renterias career fielding percentage is .968. Jeters is .975.
