YANKEES/WINDWALKERS CLINCH PLAYOFF SPOTS!

September 06, 2003 at 12:18AM View BBCode

The Yankees (despite getting beaten like a bunch of little leaguers by Washington ) and the Windwalkers each clinched playoff spots today. I would be very surprised if Washington and Philadelphia did not both clinch playoff spots in the next day or two. Looking forward to the playoffs. - Yankees

:o:o
[color=brown]Please correct and clarify for me if I am mistaken....but[/color]

I think that congratulations, are a little premature, I believe. Mathmatically, both the NY Yanks and Chicago Windwalkers have secured a position for a[color=navy] "playoff game"[/color] to get into the actual LCS playoff series.
One more win for both the NY Yanks and the Chicago Windwalkers would secure playoff spots in the LCS playoffs.
It appears that both the Philadelphia domiNATEors and Washington Nationals
have [color=red]"magic numbers of 3"[/color] to ensure there spot in the playoffs without a playoff game.

Only correcting you because you asked. We had played 150 games of a 162 game season. NY had 94 wins, Wash 92, and Cleve 80. The most Cleve could finish with would have been 92. That would have been enough to tie Wash (provided Wash lost it's last 12) but not NY. In the NL Chicago had 92 wins, Philly 90 and STL 79. Best STL could do was 91, still not enough to catch Chicago. As I write this there are now 10 games left and the playoff spots have all been clinched. Now it is a matter of home field advantage at stake. Good luck to all in playoffs and hopefully no one will have to contend with injuries. :cool

it is urgent that this season i beat the windtalkers. i look at that team, and am terrified of them in the next few years. if we let them win this year when we can still say that they are inexperienced we will never forgive ourselves. a championship for the dominateors is a championship for all n.l. teams except for chicago. there are a few other teams with great young players including the cardinals, but chicago seems to be in a class by itself because not only are they young, but they are already winning. to make matters worse the last series i played against them the manager had never taken out 3 injured players including two scheduled sp. if thats a reflection of a manager who is not keeping up with things than that team is that much better than can be observed on first glance.

Dominators don't represent my team

a championship for the dominateors is a championship for all n.l. teams except for chicago.--- Don't include the Red Stockings in that comment, Cincinnati is pulling for the Wind Talkers.

Chicago or Philadelphia...??

CHICAGO Windtalkers or Philadelphia DomiNATEors...

First, the NY Knights are not in support of the statement..
[color=navy]if we let them win this year when we can still say that they are inexperienced we will never forgive ourselves. a championship for the dominateors is a championship for all n.l. teams except for chicago.[/color]

The Knights are pulling for the best National League team to represent us in the World Series. That representative is supposed to bring the WS Trophy to the National League, and the best team will do that, young or old.

Here we are 153 games into the season and nine games from the end of the season. Where do Chicago and Philly stand in the team categories...

=========Chicago------------Philadelphia
Team BA------- 1st in NL-------->6th in NL
Team OPS----> 4th in NL------->5th in NL
Team ERA-----> 2nd in NL------>3rd in NL

As was stated, Chicago is a pretty young team, if not the youngest; but fortunately these games will be decided on the ABE Diamond in the 1950 NL LCS.
[color=00CC00]May the best team win and go on to represent the National League in the World Series !![/color]

stats dont give an adequate....

representation of the domiNATEors. you have to look between the numbers, and you see a team filled with champs. all season i have been writing about the philadelphia team with minimal representation in the all star voting, and few top 10 leaders. despite this lack of superstars they have been at or near the top all year. thanks to absolutely impecable managing by the true star of the team, and a great mix of youth and veterans. the phillies have proven that they are the greatest team in jwl history. because noone can be pointed at, and called the mvp. a team in every sense of the word.

Hey Nate

I like a GM that isn't afraid to talk his team up. About all i have is a youg stud pitcher who will hopefully be dominating in a few years.
i agree with you that the Windtalkers may be very good for a long time, almost scary. you do have your work cut out for you.
over here in the A.L. i'm hopeing that the "old" Yankees start slipping next year.

GOOD LUCK to all playoff teams.
MAY THE BEST TEAM WIN!!!!

Hey just because 1/2 my pitching staff is talking about retiring and moving to Florida in the off-season doesn't mean we're old. Does it? :D

yankees

doesnt that kind of reflect the real life yankees. jugernaut offense and a bunch of grandfathers on the pitching staff. i just think the jwl may have a ynkee team with a more affective bullpen. the yankees have been more succesful at holding off another team but the nationals are definately a scary group. as scared as i am of chicago i wouldnt have a chance against the nationals. im hoping to get some superstar of in this draft, and a couple of sp. than i too will be ready for the future. anyone who is looking to dump some talent for youth, and a run at a high draft pick send the dominateors any quality veterans that may retire after this year. thanks
