New Football theme song

November 22, 2003 at 03:14AM View BBCode

:puzzled:
So Justin Timberlake is going to write the new theme for the NBA. I don't know how thats going to turn out, but I do know that MNF needs someone, ANYONE, to replace Hank Williams Jr. on a permanent basis, but WHO!!!

Stick with the Country, Toby Keith.

I'm kidding of course...

I tried to make the choices as varied as possible, and of course they're always 'other'. But my money is on your mama, she has a beautiful singing voice.:D

this is a tough question, i like outkast and eminem a lot. i would prolly say outkast just becuz they would do something pretty original, funny and weird to open it. now if the question is who would i rather SEE doing the monday night football theme then it is definetly beyonce:D.

Okay how about we have Outkast music on loudspeakers and then have Beyonce on stage?

You gotta think that Outkast would rise to the challenge and make a great song for MNF, but would they want to do the song together? Seems like Big Boi and Andre are about to part ways.
It would never happen though, MNF has to big a fan base in middle america and they don't like Outkast or Eminem so much, if they ever change the song it would end up being some watered down garbage that no one really likes, but doesn't cause any controversy.
(I could be wrong, they did hire Dennnis Miller for a bit of time...)

please no rap. I know a lot of football players like it but the main audience is 40 year old white men with beer bellys. It should definately be rock music of some kind. Besides, rock n roll gets you pumped up, rap just makes you want to hit yourself over the head with a baseball bat to stop the torment!

How about Kid Rock? There already using him in those NFL commercials - and he's sort of like rap a little bit.

I didn't think of Kid Rock, but he'd be a good fit, or would have been. He's gone a little faux country and has become a bit irrelevent.
Maybe Metallica would be good too...
Now I don't think all rap is bad, unclesam, just the majority. The same could be said about any genre of music, but for some reason the most popular rap music is always the most derivative and annoying (i'm looking at YOU 50 cent!)

ever heard of a guy named tupac shakur? he made some of the best and most influencial rap music. and in my opinion 50 isnt annoying, he is just good, but i know that atleast on these boards im in the minority on that.

I saw the name Blur, and I knew precisely where my vote was going to go. If 'Song 2' doesn't get you pumped, I don't know what will.

WOOOOOOHOOOOO!!!!!!!

I don't hate 50 cent, I gotta respect him making it big, it takes some measure of talent to accomplish what he has.
But he isn't bringing anything new to the table, almost no one is, in any genre of music. I won't single out rap because it's just as legitimate a form of music. But almost all the music thats out is dull and repetitive. It's the same problem we had back in the late 80's, nothin really good out there. Hopefully the next music renaissance is coming...

Jay Z retiring definately will not help rap, and the problem is a lot of the good rappers are getting older (like snoop dogg, Dr. Dre, Wycleff Jean and others). Hopefully at least Outkast and Naz can keep going for a while.

yea im gonna miss jay-z. the big problem atleast to me seems to be that there arent any big time rivals that keep trying to one up eachother now that the nas-jay-z thing has slowed down and jay retired. i mean arguably the two biggest rappers r eminem and 50 cent and they r both friends and r both signed to the same record label. the whole 50-ja rule thing isnt even close to biggie-tupac. ja rule is a sell out and doesnt have near the skill that 50 has so it is hard to argue that that is a good one. as far as different, well outkast is always different and there have been a few songs that have been different, nelly's "pimp juice" comes to mind but there arent a lot of different songs out there. and there is no real major competition, it seems that everyone wants to be in everyone elses video but no1 wants to try and elevate their music the way big and pac did and the way that jay and nas did.

Very true. Everybody is everybody else's friend. Which isn't horrible because when some rappers make songs together it is great. I mean, every rapper seems to love Outkast, Pharell and Snoop Dogg, and you are right about Ja. Biggie-Pac may have been the last great rivalry. JayZ-Naz was cool for a little but it died pretty quick.

Is it a true rivalry thats missing from rap music?
How is it that mutual animosity betters the musical output of the artists talked about?
Just curious, I like some rap, but don't consider myself an expert by any means...:)

Usually when there is some sort of rivalry in rap the two rappers try to be better than the other, try to reinvent their music and use new themes. Many Biggie and Tupac songs are the result of them trying to better each other.

It must have helped, i'm not even a fan of rap but I can't help but like 2pac or Biggie, they made some great songs.
Maybe I should have put Missy Elliott on the poll, she's pretty good!

How about having John Madden and Al Michaels rap a modified version of "Are You Ready For Some Football"?

Hey, the super bowl shuffle was a misunderstood masterpiece, they should have taken that record directly to the smithsonian after recording it.
Nothing like watching the fridge stuttering around trying to dance like an MS suffering crack addict...
