The Frank Robinson League is the next of our "Speed" leagues. These leagues are a hybrid of the Private leagues and the Dynasty leagues. We call them Speed leagues because they typically play more than 3 games per day, this league will play 6 games per day.
For more info on the difference between Speed, Dynasty, and Private Leagues, please see the Pay Leagues page under Sign Up
The league will use the following settings:
- CP Trades are NOT allowed
- Player name changes are allowed
- Skill grades will be displayed as numbers. You will see 1-100 instead of A+, A, A-, etc.
- 6 games per day
- After the Amateur Draft runs, the next season will start the next day.
- Amateur Draftees will appear at 11PM on the day the league reaches August 25th
- Draft picks can be traded up to 3 seasons in advance.
- No hidden improvements
- Players will stay on the waiver wire for 7 sim days
- A playoff deadline of Sept 1st, players must be acquired before Sept 1st in order to be post-season eligible
- Only catchers can start at catcher.
- A team must carry 2 major league catchers.
- A player must be at least 50% at catcher as a secondary position to count or play as a catcher.
- Inactive teams will be replaced after 3 weeks of inactivity, without a refund unless they notify the league commish that they will be away
In the past for private leagues, we selected a commish before the league signups started. For the Speed leagues, we will select a commish while signups are underway.
Again, please remember that special rules cannot be added to a Speed league.
If you are interested in being the commish of this league, please send me a u2u after you have signed up for a team. Your responsibilities will largely be communication - namely acting as a liason between the Admins and the rest of the league.
The commish won't have any power or responsibility to make rulings or judgments in a Speed league. We may ask for your input though and if you're interested in starting your own Private league - this may be a good place to prove you're capable. We also sometimes give commishes perks like free Dynasty Expansion teams.
The cost of the league will be $55 for 8 seasons of play, which will be roughly 8 months. Subsequent 8 season terms will cost $45-50, depending on when you renew.
Here is some more background info on the concept of Speed leagues:

If you are interested in playing, please follow these instructions:
1) Create a new screen name, or log in as a screen name that doesn't already have a team.
2) Go to this link to pay and signup: http://www.simdynasty.com/signuppriv.jsp?leagueid=393
3) After you pay, click the Continue button to claim your team. If you forget to do this, return to this link and you'll be able to claim a team: http://www.simdynasty.com/signuppriv.jsp?leagueid=393
4) If you can't claim your team immediately, it is likely because
you sent in an e-check via PayPal. In that case, you'll have to wait 4 business days per PayPal's policies for the credits to hit your account. You can send us a u2u in this case to request early signup. To avoid sending an echeck, click the link that says "Funding Source" when on the PayPal payment page and choose a credit card or debit card instead of a checking account.
The initial draft will run about 48 hours after the 16th team signs up. After the league is full, we typically post a draft time the following morning. We normally start the first season 2 days after the draft runs.

Just a quick question: how does one get a player up to 50% at catcher if you're only allowed to start a catcher at catcher? This'd be the only real question I have before forking over my money for a league in which CP trades are illegal. Yee hah!

You could do it in the minors I suppose. But what the rule is designed to do is still allow you to play a guy that used to be a catcher at catcher. Maybe your backup starts vs LHP at 1B or something. You could still use him as a catcher, even if 1B becomes his primary position.

I am considering signing up for this league...I am curious about the number ratings...Will the letter ratings also be available along with the number ratings???

Yes. You can choose from 5 options, under Edit Profile:
1) Always Show Numbers
2) Always Show Letters
3) Show Numbers on Depth Chart Only
4) Show Numbers on Player Cards Only
5) Show Numbers on Depth Chart and Player Cards Only

There are currently 5 spots open.
The draft will happen about 48 hours after the last spot is full. Season will start 48 hours after that.

LOL this one is close enough. I'll just have to suck it up and start a catcher at catcher, no matter how bad he is. Small price to pay for being safe in the knowledge that some manager isn't going to bilk a newbie out of 30+ CPS. :)
The numbers are actually a little confusing to me, being used to the letter grades. But I will adjust. This league looks to be the one I have been looking for. :)

Does this also apply to how the backups are designated, or just the lineups? I take it the game will ignore it if the last catcher is hurt?

Yes, if the last catcher is hurt then Abe will ignore it, but also may not allow you to make any lineup changes until you fix the problem.
