Welcome to the new owners.

I assume we are on hold until the new owners are installed and the new comish is appointed? Hope that happens quickly.

I don't think we'll need a commish to start, but I'm expecting this sequence of events:

1. All four (or five, if MIL doesn't renew very soon) of the new owners must sign up. I've seen this take a day, and I've seen it take two weeks.
2. Admin usually schedules the expansion draft to take place about a day after that.
3. Admin usually schedules the amateur draft to take place about a day after that, at the usual time.
4. Then we follow the normal schedule.

And as thindad said, welcome!

I do not think there will be expansion draft. They As I understand it each team now keeps the old players. Mil has already passed the deadline. Perhaps there is a paperwork delay with Mil. The other teams have been offered and I think sold for some time. At least I saw the offer.

Yeah, the teams aren't on the "available private and speed leagues" page, so I'm assuming theyve already been claimed/bought. So I think with the exception maybe of MIL everyone is ready to go. I'm pretty sure we have an expansion draft because there is more than two new teams, so we should have that like tomorrow and then the OS and draft a day later maybe?

We had the OS already, emidas.

I think that the dynasty leagues (3 games per day) don't have expansion drafts anymore. I think that the speed leagues and private leagues still have them.

I've sent a U2U to Admin asking for a timeline. They're pretty good about those things, and I'm sure we'll hear from them soon.

How do expansion drafts work, exactly? I've never done one...

oh, duh. Next time I should probably pay attention, eh?

There is a place for the new owners to set preferences, similar to the ones for an initial draft. They don't rank the players, just configure the kinds of players they want, weighting speed, power, etc.

All of the players (major and minor) from the teams that are leaving go into the pool. Then the new owners get a team from that pool.

It's not uncommon to get a team with 5 2nd basemen and no catchers, so you have to be ready for some trading.

So what are we waiting for now? No teams are listed as available in this league.

Probably Milwaukee

Yeah, I think we're waiting on his payment...he hasn't been active since the 11th...

If we had a commish, they would probably list his team. I haven't heard back from Admin yet. Until they schedule the expansion draft, I'm pretty sure that nothing will happen.

I forgot we were commish-less. Why dont we vote for a new commissioner?
sharbrough

Admin is pretty particular about commish appointments. They will probably solicit nominations, and / or comments, but they like to make that decision based on their comfort level with the way the site runs.

Recommendations are probably in order. If anyone wants to volunteer, a U2U to Admin would probably be the best step to start with.

Apparently, I'm going to be the new Commish....they asked me to do it and I agreed. Now they're setting up my Commish account, as it were. I will make sure that we get this MIL thing settled asap.

Sweet, sounds good. Congrats!

That's GREAT news! I want to be the first to say that I think a commish has a lot more credibility if his team doesn't bash mine around.

To keep you all informed....since Admin ignored my messages yesterday, I've tried again today a little more forcefully to ask them to get us going or at least post the team (or teams) that needs an owner. Will keep on them but there is so far a disconcerting radio silence.

"Didn't respond" and "ignored" aren't quite the same things. I share your frustration, but I now that the admins have their hands full these days.

Let us know if you want us to all u2u admin at once. We'll back you up.

Sounds good, just leaves the Chicago(NL) franchise to be had. Hopefully someone will come along today or tomorrow and pick them up.

I've nabbed the Chicago (AL) team...
They'll be my 3rd team, after the NY Knights (Greg Maddux League) & Chicago Gale (Bob Feller League)
