Baltimore and the New York Mets are those two teams. Minnesota has their taillight right in front of them at 5-1. Seattle, last years pennant winner is off to a bit of a sluggish start vat 3-3.
Kansas City 2-4, Boston and Anaheim at 1-5 and winless Washington make up the second division.
In most recent games, Baltimore defeated Boston 3-1. Mervin Causey (2-0) picked up his second win.
Kansas City took the final game of their series over Anaheim 7-4. Johnny Clausen hit his first homer of the season. Mike Ryan (1-0) was the winning pitcher in relief.
Minnesota 6 Washington 1, two clubs heading in opposite directions met at the Sabotage Arena in Washington. Rick Fink had two hits, one of them his first home run of the season. mark Rockhouser went eight innings allowed four hits and was the wining pitcher.
The Mets defeated Seattle 4-3 winning yet another one run ball game.
For Seattle pitcher Del Dunlap the season is Ground Hog Day over and over again. Dunlap was charged with two losses in the playoffs last season and he came face to face with his old antagonists again.
Mike Smith started on the mound for the Mets and went eight complete innings allowing six hits and three runs. He got a no decision.
Seattle scored two in the sixth inning. Sam Viola followed Ernie Kindall's single with a home run. The two run homer put Seattle on top 2-1. New York had just gone ahead 1-0 when Dale Fondy doubled and Sam Tyson singled him in.
The Mets see-sawed back in front scoring two runs in the bottom of the third.
Wilson Rauntzhan put New York ahead 3-2 with a blast well over the left field fence with Ken Fuller aboard.
Seattle knotted the score 3-3 in the sixth inning. Charlie Sakata's RBI single scored Steve Whitaker.
The score remained tied until the bottom of the ninth. Charlie Edmondson worked a scoreless top of the ninth and turned it over to the Mets hitter against the aforementioned Del Dunlap.
Singles by Ray Wakefield, Butch Barlow and a run scoring single by Angel Cardenas pinned yet another loss on the dispirited Dunlap.

The 1952 season is a half dozen games old and two teams still are undefeated. Scored on yes, beaten no. So no threat for either to run the table and be the first undefeated baseball team ever.Baltimore and the New York Mets are those two teams.
