I did not think anything could top the invisible communication device, but that just might.

(And rewatching that goal, I am starting to think Maicon was trying to do that.)

Wait, I missed the bit about the invisible communication device. What?

drew isn't missing anything. that was a brilliant bend on that thing, he should at least claim he did it on purpose.

Watching his eyes, though, it really looked like he was looking for a cross, not a shot at goal.

Kim Jong Il and the North Korean coach are communicating via an invisible to the eye communication device so The Great Leader is basically coaching the team. yup yup.

Oh man, that's pretty good, too. Was that from the match commentary?

No, I think he was looking for a cross and saw the keeper cheating and then decided to try a speculative effort. But there is no way he puts that sort of bend on the ball if he is trying to cross it, and he is too good to mishit it that oddly.

Yeah, they mentioned it before the game, and I remember seeing something on facebook this morning too, but I cannot find it.

I wonder how He will explain this game away, since he is at the helm, apparently? A western conspiracy to jam the communication device? Or perhaps the game they are screening in No Korea will be edited?

I hope edited. God, I hope I hope I hope.

(Actually, how hard would it be to just set up cameras in some crappy dump of a stadium there and stage the entire thing? And then have all the participants put to death immediately after, for the good of the state, of course.)

Or maybe we are watching the staged version and right now the real Brazil is getting humiliated. Didn't Kaka look just a little bit too handsome?

Holy crap, now they just clone that goal twice over on the home feed and they're all good.

Maybe they flip the screen image horizontally on one of the goals, just for appearances.

That game was totally awesome. Probably my favorite of the tournament so far.

And that South Korean sub? That was in The Great Leader's bathtub.

I was playing poker on pokerstars a few days back, and you can change your little avatar to support your favorite soccer team in the world cup. I changed my avatar to north korea of course. Then I went on to lose 45 dollars in about 15 minutes. Changed the avatar back, and won 30 back in the next hour or two. hmmmmm.....

2-1. Probably one of the more exciting matches for me thus far. Maicon's goal was insanely good.

Yea, it is. It's pretty cool. There are some people of Korean ethnicity from outside the DPRK (Zainichi Koreans, or whatever) that follow them voluntarily, too, but without the actors there would be very few North Korean "fans" there. So, yea. Awesome.

Pretty sure Maicon meant to do that. I've seen him do it before, at least, so I won't doubt him. It was a fun game, there was some nice play and a good storyline and everything. I disagree with Tim (or the Brazilians, anyway) on Dunga, I think they've been playing like this for twenty years and everyone's just taken a while to figure it out (or get really annoyed by it, I don't know). I guess Dunga's probably a little more blatant about his...you know, attempts to create a genuine system outside of "samba football" than previous managers have been, but they haven't been a ridiculously attacking team for some time. Mostly because it's just not likely to work at this point, some sort of balance is necessary. It's not like they're playing catenaccio, though. They're still pretty flowing when they get going. Unintentional rhyme, I swear.

(obviously, I hope I'm wrong and Chile goes ahead and wins the competition by recklessly attacking at every opportunity.)

Anyway, I was totally ready to commit to juche and all that for a while there. Do you think there's a mass games for defense? Like, instead of gymnastics and massive tifos they show how they deal with various forms of attack. I don't know. Maybe.

I don't know what "juche" means (I suppose I will google it), but Eric has single-handedly made me excited to watch Chile, a team I did not have a clue what to expect from. They had better not disappoint me.
