Did Luongo melt down, or did the defensemen not do their job? (I didn't watch the game.)

I didn't check in until late in the third, when it was 6-5 Chicago, so I really couldn't say.

sorry craig. it would have been better if they'd lost in OT. great series though.

The only highlights from tonight:

- Drunken Caps chick right behind me getting tossed in the third period after talking smack to Penguins fans, who were pretty quiet even with a four-goal lead. Most of the Caps fans were cheering. Wish she would have gotten tossed in the first period as she yelled in her shrill voice in my ear. "Come onnnnnnnnnnn!" And she didn't understand basic offsides rules -- the Caps had a few plays where they would have been offsides if they touched the puck in the Penguins zone but they skated back to the blue line. "Hayyyyyyy! Don't turn your back on the playyyyyyy!"

- Getting a free beer at Capitol City Brewery before catching the last train from Union Station. "It's on the house," as I sulked at the bar wearing my Brashear jersey.

What is Washington going to do in the offseason? Will Florida have to settle for second place in the Southeast? Why is Washington even in the Southeast?

This team could use some veteran presence that isn't awful (or, in the case of Chris Clark, injured all the time.) A second-line center, to replace the possibly-departing (and in any case, not that good) Sergei Fedorov. Kozlov will probably leave, so another right wing. And the team is constantly low on defensemen, so maybe one guy. That may just be Alzner from the Bears. This isn't a team that needs any sort of major overhaul, just a couple of tweaks.

So does that mean Cooke is going to sit himself down tonight after his knee-to-knee hit on Carolina's Erik Cole in game 1? :)

i don't think either one of them were suspendable, to be honest. if i'd been refereeing i doubt i'd even have given ovechkin a penalty.

malkin's hat trick goal is ridiculous.

I don't think either were suspendable. I just like how the Penguins players/fans/media were all over Ovechkin but mum was the word with Cooke.

And speaking of double standard, I wonder if Crosby was whining about the delay from all the hats thrown on the ice tonight. Doubt it.

They just did a lengthy interview with Gary Bettman during the intermission on CBC and goddammit that guy is the scum of the earth.

Honestly, I'd have had the same impression had the TV been on mute -- he just looks like a vile little beetle. But the host, whose name escapes me, really put the screws to him, and Bettman just resorted to slippery little half-answers and emitted a noxious order from his stink glands.

ron mclean. word is, bettman doesn't like him much. i don't get the impressions that bothers mclean a whole lot.

how are you getting the cbc feed, by the way? are you close enough to the border to get the vancouver station or are you online? i know you;ve said before that you prefer watching hockey on canadian tv and it never occurred to me to ask before.

CBC is part of the expanded basic cable package in Seattle. It must be a proximity-to-Vancouver thing.

Where can I find reruns of Check It Out, starring Don Adams? That was the best CBC show ever.

They used to run "Forever Knight" reruns at, like, 2:30 in the morning on channel 20 in DC. I think that's the only Canadian show I've ever seen. It was pretty crappy.
