If they were out of subs, one of the field players would need to play goalie. He certainly could get gloves from the sideline. I think he is also required to wear a different color jersey, but I'm not sure about that one. I'm sure they would have given him time to get gloves and whatnot before the PK.

The best is when the normal keeper is, like, 6'5, he gets sent off, and then his replacement is some short outfield player (who has to use the keeper's shirt). It looks like an eight year old is playing there.Anyway. Cheering for Switzerland is sort of bizarre. It's very NCAA tournament, I guess.

Mexico and france play next, if those two teams tie, Uruguay automatically moves on. But lets say France beats mexico by some marginal score like 1-0, and lets just assume that france at least ties south africa (guarunteeing that they make the next round). If Uruguay had not run up the score, Mexico would merely need to win the game to knock uruguay out of the tournament. As it stands, either mexico would need to beat uruguay by some decisive amoumt. or mexico would need to beat france, and tie with urugay, and france would have to beat south africa by some decisive amount...
(so running up the score basically guaruntees uruguay makes it to round 2. If they had won 1-0, depending on what happens to mexico/france, a 1-0 loss to mexico may put them out of the tournament.)
but yeah, um, go mexico.

I had it figured out in my head the same way Happy did, so I was agreeing with him completely.
But, you are right. A draw between Mexico/France sets them both up with 2 pts, while Uruguay has 4. If Uruguay and South Africa then lost, France and Mexico would both have 5 points and Uruguay would have 4.
What really needs to happen for Uruguay to advance is for the France/Mexico game to end with a winner. Which will then set up Uruguay to, at a minimum, tie for the 2nd seed regardless, in which case goal margin could play a factor.
Tyles is so smart. He should be the one writing the commentary. And less adept with mathematics people should shut the ____ up.

If Nigeria don't get a point here, they're pretty much finished -- they'd need a win against South Korea and help from tiebreakers to advance. But with a tie, they could win against South Korea and advance outright (unless Greece somehow beat Argentina, which would again send it to tiebreakers).If Greece wins here but loses to Argentina, and Nigeria beats South Korea, then it's clusterfucktime.
