It is kind of funny to me that some people will believe in Adam and Eve--for which there is no physical evidence they ever existed--and NOT believe in dinosaurs, for which we have bones in abundance. But it's a purely human trait: People want to believe what they want to believe, and they'll ignore obvious facts if they're contraditorary.
So I wouldn't say Everett is "weird" just because of that.
I really shouldn't post this. Don't shut us down, Tyson--please. This hasn't gotten ugly yet :)

i believe in adam and eve and that dinosaurs existed, but i can see how some would not, they interpret the bible literally. Everett is fine for doing that.

Well then where's the physical evidence that God existed? How could you believe in God and not Adam and Eve? Just because you've never seen it, heaven forbid it doesnt exist. I've known the exact bush I hit a golf ball into, and I've never found it and I'm sure no one else ever will...doesnt mean its not there. The bible is just a book of eye witness accounts written down. Thats pretty physical to me, since I can hold it and they are about people who actually existed in history. Both couldnt have happened, so it all comes down to what you believe in, and everyone is entitled to that. But when you say a prayer or grace, or whisper in your head you hope something goes your way...who are you talking to? dinosaurs? Why do we celebrate Christmas and Easter, for those dinosaurs? I guess our founding fathers were high when they wrote the constitution and such huh? In dinosaurs we trust...

Okay...this seriously should not have started, and someone should shut it down before it gets any worse.
Anyone can believe anything they want to. Anyone can interpert the Bible anyway they want to. I'm agnostic. I believe there's as much compelling proof of God's existence as there is compelling proof that He doesn't exist. Carl Everett--or anybody else--is completely free to believe in God, Adam and Eve, Noah's ark, or anything else. If there is no concrete physical evidence to confirm OR deny something, then anybody is well within their right to take it on faith.
The only thing I said was that I don't know how you can not believe in dinosaurs when there's physical evidence that they existed. I have no problem with someone who believes something that can't be proven or disproven. I do wonder about someone who doesn't believe something there IS proof of.
But I didn't say Everett was a nut for thinking like that: I wouldn't say that about anybody. We never should've gotten into this debate: It can serve no purpose. No debate about religion ever served any purpose. I've been in them before, and I know what happens: Everyone gets mad, and nobody convinces anyone of anything. I have never in my life seen an athiest turn a Christian into an athiest, or vice-versa. Those are conclusions you come to on your own: Not in a debate with others.
Which is why we need to keep our religious views to ourselves. These things get ugly--and fast. I wish I'd never said what I did.
