Also, was poking through old threads last night: Tom was right about the Rays last spring, and Craig is correct that with the advent of the Nats, the O's are no longer a large market team.

If you're going to say something like that, at least post a link to the thread(s).April 14, 2009 at 10:28PM View BBCode
That would've required me to go back today and find it, and I've already wasted a fair chunk of it trying to clear up this nasty rumor you're spreading that I live in a cave.April 15, 2009 at 03:59AM View BBCode

It's still only the first month of the season. I'm from baltimore and as big a fanatic as anyone. But I have to remember....historically, they start off strong then fizzle at the all-star break. So lets pick this back up after the all-star game and see where they are.April 16, 2009 at 01:39PM View BBCode
you think they'll make it to the break before they fizzle?April 16, 2009 at 02:06PM View BBCode
i guess all these guys could go old school nine innings every game, and save the bullpen for something. what that something is, i don't know. the beauty of this armchair quarterbacking is, hindsight just can't miss. the actual manager of the team has to, you know. make decisions that involve unknown outcomes that result from the actions of actual human ballplayers, and not numbers in a freaking column.April 16, 2009 at 06:50PM View BBCode
game 9, hendrickson 95 pitches...missed game 8 :/April 16, 2009 at 07:01PM View BBCode
trembley used to be the bullpen coach. he can't stop thinking in terms of getting those guys in the game maybe.April 16, 2009 at 07:02PM View BBCode
i mean, last year, all he could think about was why can't somebody, anybody play shorstop (and hit, you know, at least a little bit). this year he has moved on to something different.April 16, 2009 at 07:23PM View BBCode

guthrie was in the WBC, and didn't get the work he would have gotten in even regular spring training. before the US team was eliminated, they (the orioles) asked for him back to try to get him ready for opening day.April 16, 2009 at 08:40PM View BBCode

I think it might depend more in pitch count at that point. A shame in a way, really. It used to be that some pitchers didn't really loosen up until they had thrown around 90 pitches. Nolan Ryan's fastball used to get faster the later into the game he got. Bad comparison, as Ryan is a freak of nature, but there it is.April 16, 2009 at 09:42PM View BBCode
they also have a lot of arms down in the bullpen. they might even be trying to show some of them around to deal them. mcphail is running the team now. maybe seattle has something else he wants to steal.April 16, 2009 at 09:54PM View BBCode
Its true, the orioles bullpen is much better than their rotation.April 17, 2009 at 05:13PM View BBCode
A bullpen led by George Sherrill is better than the rotation? The Orioles do have bad pitching.April 17, 2009 at 05:23PM View BBCode
they have some pitchers down there that have had some sucess, sarfate, johnson, ray, to name a few of the younger ones. they also have some quite nice pitchers in the minors. they have some veterans, like baez, jamie walker, that can get folks out. and sherrill isn't a bad reliever.
