Holmgren will get another job if nothing more than an offensive coordinator or quarterbacks coach. What's the difference with Manning with the Colts and Aiken with the Cowboys? Other than the fact you put up a lopsided poll on a QB that has had a great year and you don't like.

Peyton Manning is good, one of the greatest, and not overrated. some people think (HAHAHAHAHHA) Tom Brady is better than him. i dont know if this is because Tom Brady is just SO overrated that this can happen despite overrating Manning, or if it means Manning isnt overrated.

And I guess that would make Trent Dilfer a great QB because he has won a superbowl. That would be the biggest crock in the game.

basing ability on having a team that is in the playoffs is just stupid, which GMClaws seems to know. That was kinda the point of my statement at the top of this page if i didnt make it obvious enough.

Holmgren is one of the most miserable coaches in the business. Brett Favre made him what he is today, which is a fat, slow man with a bad moustache.

even if you aren't a COlts fan I would think you have to admit that Manning is one of the most talented and intelligent QBs' in the NFL

Absolutely. No doubt about it. But he isn't the best quarterback in the NFL, and his record was helped a great deal by play-calling and a rule change that benefited quarterbacks.

1-Mississippi! 2-Mississippi, 3-Miss---oh crap, there goes touchdown pass number eight. Boy, Tags sure loves the passing game, eh anonymous pass-rushing friend?

I'm not sure if you can pick a THE BEST QB in the league right now. Everyone seems to have something that they do best. I would say you could take about 5 of them throw them in a hat and just pick from there

My 5 would be in no specific order:

Manning
Culpepper
McNabb
Brady
Hasslebeck (only because Vick just doesn't run an offense that well yet)

I agree with four of those guys, but Hasselbeck is a chump. I'd take Vick just because of the X-factor. Jake Delhomme doesn't get enough credit for helping to key that late run by Carolina, either.

I was borderline on Delhomme, he is top 7 no doubt

Peyton is obviously a great QB but as Whisky suggested he was helped by the rule change regarding defensive backs jamming receivers. That is what got him the record (along with his talent obviously). But don't forget what happened to him last year against the Pats in the playoffs when Ty Law picked him off 3 times. This was when the old coverage rule was in effect and his receivers were being mugged. Under the old rules he could be contained by a good defense but now... well maybe if that defense says 10 hail marys before the game they MIGHT have a outside shot of somewhat containing him.

Manning, easily the best.

Of course Peyton does call a lot of the plays.

I think Peyton is probably the best of the old-school, drop back in the pocket, scan through EVERY POSSIBLE FRIGGIN CHECK OFF, throw away the ball or get sacked looking the other way QBs. I've pointed this out in other threads, Peyton doesn't have any kind of ability to elude pressure in the pocket. Sort of Bledsoe-esque, standing like a statue in the pocket, always looking away right when pressure is coming down on him. Brady, Culpepper, McNabb, Roethlisberger, hell, even Harrington and Hasslebeck, are aware within the pocket, roll away from pressure, and generally avoid the issues that Manning (and other Bledsoe-esque QBs find themselves in).

Hence my arguement of why Eli will end up being better than big brother. BUT, thanks to the revised rules concerning defensive backs, Manning has just mowed through the opposition because he has basically been given the time to find the open receiver, because, well, the receivers are usually WIDE OPEN. In years past, you would expect an over/under of 20 TDs on Manning, with a TD pass or two, if you were lucky. But then, if you're d-backs were aggressive, maybe an INT or 3 as well. The rule revisions seem to be made almost exclusively to benefit Manning.

Regardless, I will give praise where praise is due. Manning did break a record I doubted would ever be broken, and he led his team the whole way. He disregarded comments about him being selfish, only looking to get wins for his team, and get his ring. All of these arguements about rules changes, etc., are all peripheral to him. My hat's off to you, Peyton.
