Pity, it was a fun argument and was sure to gather more steam if he got closer...

Hitting streaks are one of the fun things about the game, not one of things that really makes a player good. Someone go theoretically go on a 162 game hitting streak by hitting only singles and going 1-4 or 2-5 every night, and he'd suck. Putting a hitting streak in two different seasons takes the fun out of it.

I'm going to go ahead and agree with you there, but I'll maintain that a hitting streak that carries over between two seasons constitutes different circumstances than a hitting streak that occurs within a single season. Still, it's never a good sign when ME agrees with basically every word you said.

At least your argument had some sort of logical basis. I'm pretty sure ME's argument against it involves Masonic conspiracies and apocalyptic visions.
