Sometimes, I think you'd be best served if, before you typed something out, you said it out loud to yourself. This would save us all a lot of trouble.

Oh noes, hyperbole on a forum, dont make craig turn this internet around.

(tim talks like this all the time, with the "people must remember".)

Hey, I even laughed a little bit there. But you are wildly inconsistent in your caring/not caring acus it's the internet talk.

Not to change subjects, (I think you can see the conversational leap that I'm making here) but that commercial for that Pixar movie up, every time the dog talks, it makes me laugh.

Hmm, let me waste some breath...

Okay, people have been bitching about how badly the MLB All-Star teams represent the best players in the league since, well--the first All-Star game, probably. Are you telling me you guys can't even take a shot at evaluating which is better or worse? I can't because I don't know dick about the NFL, but Christ it sounded like a legitimate point to me. The response appears to be, "We don't know if you're right or wrong, but we know you're an idiot."

Which, of course, is a statement I don't entirely disagree with. All the same.

yeah, it's not a legitimate point, for a whole bunch of reasons. it requires a accepting as truth a subjective opinion (with which everyone may or may not agree) to accept the argument as valid and there's no way to prove that opinion correct. we can't even vet the opinion as generally accepted without a completely seperate discussion on the subject. so, fail there.

off the top of my head, i'd probably say that the nfl all-star vehicle is likely more 'accurate' (whatever that means) than mlb's, based on the timing and nature of the voting, but i haven't taken any time to evaluate that assumption. it does sort of show that particular point probably isn't generally acepted enough to back up an argument, however. so, fail there also.

i guess what i'm saying is that the response isn't "We don't know if you're right or wrong, but we know you're an idiot", it's more to the effect of "You can't use an unprovable and likely flat out wrong subjective opinion in defence of a logical argument and have people accept it as gospel just because you said so. (You idiot)"

both are flawed, but mostly good.

the argument is, basically, is this an "all guys having good first halfs" team in baseball, or, "who's the best player at each position" team.

if fielder is having a better first half than pujols, does he deserve to start? does anyone really think he's better than albert?

how you answer those questions is how you vote, methinks.

as far as the NFL all pro game, who cares? it's the worst spectacle among the all star games. until they fix it, and make it even watchable, it's irrelevant.

The NFL pro bowl won't be fixed until they play it the week before the Super Bowl, when people still care. Just exempt anyone from the two Super Bowl teams and play it at the same stadium.

You're welcome, world.

I've been saying that for years, syco, but that's not fair to the SB contestants, and robs them of the honor.

If they don't like it, then they can lose in the AFC/NFC Championship Games.

Exactly. I mean, call me crazy, but I don't think anyone preparing to play in the motherfucking Super Bowl is going to be too upset about having to sit out the Pro Bowl.
Duff77

Wouldn't that make the Pro Bowl even more irrelevant than it already is, since presumably, many of the best players wouldn't participate?
