Yea, there's always stuff like that. I mean, look, people censored about everything in this sport just like they censored about everything in basketball or baseball or whatever. It also tends to be just as motherfucking stupid, with occasional circumstances where bitching is perhaps warranted allowing everyone to continue rocking the tin foil cap.

Bitch but not bitching. Alright.

(the moment when Henry realized that he should give up the hand ball argument was pretty awesome. it is nice to see irony appreciated in the heat of...I don't know, whatever.)

There are no ties in the NHL .

not anymore, I know. Assuming you are older than 10, you might remember them though.

You know the only thing worse than ties? Scoreless ties. That match sucked.

Eh, it was interesting, but it wasn't good. Bad, even, sure. The Mexico games in that group should continue to be relatively attractive, but the others are likely to be pretty staid.

I just saw that Budweiser is the official beer of the FIFI world cup.

Nothing says drunken, rioting 3rd world countrymen like Budweiser.

Well played.

Is there anything you can't draw a completely nonsensical conclusion from?

(come on, Tyles. that's sub-happy trolling. this is why we can't have nice things, we engage on motherfucking everything.)

One of the other things that I find weird is the whole "soccer is popular everywhere but here" meme. Yes, soccer is relatively popular throughout the world and yes, soccer isn't all that popular here (comparatively). But you know, between them China and India have like 2 billion+ people and neither of those countries is that into soccer. Soccer is crazy popular in South America and Europe (which is why we think everyone loves it everywhere, because we're Europe West), really popular in Africa and sort of half-assedly popular throughout much of Asia. It's not like everyone in the world who isn't American loves ties ties ties. Wingnut assholes think this is true because they get boners every time the world does something that Americans say "meh" to.

Yea, there are plenty of other places where the sport is emerging in the same way it is here. Japan and Australia have pretty similar situations to America's.

2 games in and we have 2 ties? It is a bit anti-climatic, really. I was sort of hoping that France would lose badly and then have to put forth a real effort to get out of the group stage. That would have been fun. It also would have been fun if South Africa had scored that chance in the 91st minute that went off the post. That was unfortunate.

Hell, you're right, Eric. And I shouldn't have ended that sentence with a preposition.

Of course I hate France. My wife was born in Brasil, so it is sort of in her blood (or at least her roots). The French can do things to themselves that would get me banned from the boards for saying. So ... yeah ... I don't like French futbol.

I was also rooting for some good-old fashioned French Fail, but never got it. I feel so cheated over that match.

no no. you don't understand. the satisfaction is much greater if the French go deeper, and fail in a more enjoyable, more public way against a better team that can really expose for the fakers they most undoubtably are.

I love how futbol fans get all uppity over their sport.

I don't care if they don't like football, why should they care that I don't like futbol? Enjoy your FIFI sport and move on with your lives. My daughters played in HS, and I enjoyed watching them play. They also played basketball. I won't be watching the WNBA anytime soon, either.

(personally, I think Guiness should be the official beer. Nothing says drunken, rioting eurotrash like Guiness.)

I mean, certainly one would expect the hardier Eurotrash football hooligans to tip back a Guinness or twelve, but if we're trying to make fun of faggotron Eurotrash football fans, shouldn't it be Zima or Smirnoff Ice or something? Seems like a missed opportunity there, Shepperella.
