so long, andy. looks like pettite is leaving. doesnt look like the yankees have many more options for starting pitching. looks like boston is leading now.December 11, 2003 at 05:17AM View BBCode
All of the Northeast baseball fans are aflutter about all the trades and dealing doing on right now...December 11, 2003 at 05:42AM View BBCode
im not from the northeast so haha. padres signed otsuka(a closer from japan) for a 2 year, $2 million contract. this officially makes the padres bullpen the best geezer pen in the majors with hoffman, beck, and otsuka.December 11, 2003 at 05:58AM View BBCode
all tyhe things in the world can happen between the yankees and the bo sox but if a-rod goes to boston boston wins the offseason no questionsDecember 11, 2003 at 06:07AM View BBCode
not completly true. Yanks are about to aquire vidro, and would also make a run for gurrero(of course they would win, they would just buy any team that tried to compete with them) then they would have all 3 of the expo stars from last season. If they aquired gurrero it would be about equal to arod, a bit less but the addition of vidro and vazquez off set the difference. And anyways i think vazquez is better than schillingDecember 11, 2003 at 08:40PM View BBCode
vidro really? NICE. and i would have to say with his youth vazquez is better and/or will be better than schilling. im gonna miss pettitte though. it also looks like brown may come to the yanks again.December 11, 2003 at 11:40PM View BBCode
¿Josè Angel Vidro tambien?December 11, 2003 at 11:50PM View BBCode
a brown-weaver trade sounds like it is going to happen. the reports say brown will be traded along with weaver, 2 minor leaguers, and $3 million. that money plus the money off brown's contract would give the dodgers something like $9 million to acquire a hitterDecember 12, 2003 at 08:25AM View BBCode
Last I noticed, Kevin Brown deal has been done... Now the Dodgers need to dump Darren Dreifort and they'll be fine.December 12, 2003 at 08:47AM View BBCode
red sox giving up nomah and ramirez and getting a-rod and some other player or prospects (jarrod washburn was being thrown around in a nomah deal, someoen like that), i don't see how the red sox come out ahead, especially if they get caught paying a-rod $25M and still paying manny $5M.December 12, 2003 at 09:22PM View formatted

the sox bullpen played well in the playoffs. I think they are gonna stick with the guys they have. Timlin, Embree, Williamson, no stars but solid guys. I don't think Andy Pettitte is really that good. Both Brown and Vazquez are better. Pettitte wins a lot of games cause he plays with a good offense, but his ERA last year was around 4.December 12, 2003 at 10:19PM View BBCode
i agree. pettite was overated. but even steinbrenner doesnt have the money foir vazquez, brown, vidro, gurrero, gordon and possibly others in one off-season.December 12, 2003 at 11:36PM View BBCode
im not sure about that. as george said "dont bet the house." he is determined to compete. i still wish that he signed pettitte but im still pretty happy.December 13, 2003 at 10:32PM View BBCode
I saw something up there about Vidro.. the Yankees have a second baseman.. where'd you here about about Vidro?:puzzled:December 13, 2003 at 11:15PM View BBCode
the yanks have a 2B but he cant field the ball to save his life. if the yanks really do sign Lofton, then the yanks dont need a 2B unless they bench soriano. also, drew/marrero for marquis/king/wainwright trade occured and encarnacion traded to the dodgers for player to be namedDecember 14, 2003 at 12:38AM View BBCode
guess i missed something. the yanks dont need vidro, they have miguel cairo to play 2B:lol:December 14, 2003 at 12:58AM View BBCode
marlins gave up encarnacion for nothing, and lost pudge and lee. maybe they will go after guerrero now. as of now conine would play RF and Choi 1B.December 14, 2003 at 01:34AM View BBCode
mets picked up cameron. foulke must feel pretty good, look how foxsports.com used his name in their headline:December 14, 2003 at 04:15PM View BBCode
the talk about vidro to the yanks wuz before the lofton signing. i think what they were gonna do is move soriano to center and play vidro at second. i would have liked that but i think that i like the lofton deal better because now the yanks have a true leadoff man so they can drop soriano down into a position where he would get more rbi oppurtunities and probably more pitches to hit. i figure if they bat him infront of sheffield or giambi he will have more guys on which would limit the number of pitches thrown where the pitcher is trying to get him to chase, and also more pitchers will wanna be more careful not to walk him and have to face giambi or sheffield and have to worry about soriano swiping a base. lofton is a good on-base guy so we dont have to worry about our leadoff man striking out 150 times and only walking 20. it will prolly be more like when knoblauch and jeter were at the top of the order. lofton sures up the defense also. foulke is a good move for the redsox. i heard that they will look to deal williamson now. my only question is will francona bring foulke in in the eight inning when pedro is gased after 120+ pitches in game 7 of the alcs?:)December 14, 2003 at 04:25PM View BBCode
this whole sheffield-guerrero-yankees thing is confusing. i wuz just reading on espn.com that the bergen record reported that sheffield signed a three year deal with the yanks, but other sources say that the yanks have made an offer to guerrero and consider him their number 1 right field option. does anyone know wut is really going on?December 14, 2003 at 05:57PM View BBCode
my guess is the guerrero thing is someone wants it to happen, not that it will. also toronto sends hendrickson to tampa bay, tampa sends kennedy to colorado, and colorado sends speier to toronto. toronto also owes colorado a minor leaguer to announced after the rule V. toronto now has a good reliever in speier to complement miguel batista's signing. toronto is quietly building up one hell of a pitching staff but will it be able to compete with boston and ny?
