NY-AL sends OF prospect Daryle Gruber to CHI-NL in exchange for veteran OF Joel Otis and CHI-NL's 5th round pick in the upcoming draft. We wish Daryle the best of luck and think he has the potential to me a ML regular. Joel was assigned to the Yankees AAA club where he will function as a player/coach keeping his skills sharp in the event of an injury in the bigs.

Yankees return the Colts 5th rd pick along with veteran OF Earl Woodling in return for the Colt's 4th rd pick in the upcoming draft. "Earl had his ring and just wanted to play at least one more year in the bigs. We wish him well and know he will provide some veteran leadership with the Colts. He still has some pop in his bat and it wouldn't surprise me if he helps the Colts into the playoffs" stated Yankees manager Vince Dimaggio. "He will always have a place in the Yankee organization any time he wants it" assured the Yankee manager.

you are absolutely correct i was looking at my other trade post and i guess the 4th rounder just stuck in my head for some reason.....the deal was for my 2nd rounder.....sorry about the confusion

As compensation WASH will receive PITT's 5th rounder this 1954 draft and 2nd rounder for 1955 draft.

Pittsburgh double traded its 2nd round pick for this 1954 draft to both NY/AL and WASH....Because it was 1st traded to NY/AL they will keep it by rights.As compensation WASH will receive PITT's 5th rounder this 1954 draft and 2nd rounder for 1955 draft.
